Come watch me experiment with making "glassine" napkins! I was inspired by Nik the Booksmith's video in which she makes "glassine" with paper: tinyurl.com/y34bygc

What a terrific idea. As you mentioned, the texture and “noise” are an added bonus. I love paper that satisfies my tactile and hearing senses. Btw, I often use essential oils to add “smell” to my journals, so you have sight, sound, touch and smell…!!!!

This is an awesome idea. I've made them using baby oil but it's a huge mess. I've got tons of napkins. Tfs. Oh a little tip. When you're mod podging, if you will tear a piece of plastic wrap and ball it up, it makes the perfect tool for smoothing your project and doesn't stick or tear. 😉

Thanks to Nik I am spraying anything paper! To deal with the blowing around problem, I lay my paper on cardboard and use straight pins in the corners.

Good idea about the pins. I actually had put my freezer paper on cardboard, so that would work.

@@LollyPalooza You could also tack the napkin to the freezer paper with an iron. It will peel right off. I have one of those irons that have a small triangular head which will work great.

Shelly, again I am amazed with what all you do in a day. Good exercise too. That zucchini muffin looked so good. I was sitting here kinda bored while I was letting my nails dry and your video popped up. I was so happy. Thank you also for your information about being able to switch swerve for monkfruit without adjusting recipe measurements. My Lakanto monkfruit comes tomorrow. I may have to order that Southern Keto Cookbook. I have been tempted for a while. You are definitely an influencer.

I am so very excited to try this I don't have that exact product that you use but I do have something very similar so I'm gonna give it a try before I go spend more money but thank you so much for sharing this I feel like my junk journals are gonna look one million times better because I have way too many cute napkins that I've traded over the years

Beautiful! I would use the extra ply to stamp on (permanent ink) and make my own designs, then turn that into the “glassine” page. TYFS! ❤️🦋💜

This is such an awesome idea!! I did it the last couple days and now am creating some really cool stuff with my new stronger napkins!! Yes, a napkin trade is needed. Although, if I leave them out, my dog thinks they're a little treat for her to munch on!! (the fresh ones not the sprayed ones!)

Also, you could do what I do. When I find a napkin I like and want to do the technique with the pattern on the napkins. I scan the napkins with my scanner, then I can print it on a heavier paper such as vellum, tracing paper, etc. :)

My spray box is a cut down cardboard carton. I use straight pins in the corners and middle edges. It pierces through the paper and box and holds it down quite well. I always trim the edge off my paper after it’s dry anyway ( sometimes the napkin ripples along the edge or doesn’t get quite enough spray) so the pin holes get cut away
