we had a ss263 in my station thank goodness it was a dodge with a PERKINS v8 engine 80 mph on the open road that Dennis is all noise and no go lol married to the wrong auto box i think ours was an Allison american auto

Most current electronic sirens are using a 70W or 100W output Two tone horns are far louder. Having driven vehicles with both

Probably because they're used the most, remember the engine has to stay on the operate the pumps etc, so they gain mileage a lot quicker!
