@@MrTonyHeath Actually of the only RTs one was gone from sight within two seconds of the start of the video and a split second flash-by of an RT with a Roof Route Number Box at 0.27 totalled about 3 RT seconds. There were no RTW's whatsoever. Aside from the odd Routemaster , nearly all the buses were in fact RTLs. This dated the film to approximately 1965.... it could not have been earlier than 1963 (too many Routemasters) or later than 1967 (too few RTLs after then.)

@@fwof3347 Actually the first Routemaster was introduced 1800 years later in 1954 as a prototype!!! Prototypes aside they did not enter service as a fleet until later 1959 as trolleybus replacement vehicles and it was thet they started appearing on other routes and into Central London. If you consider the number of Routmasters made and subtract that number from the trolleybus fleet there were only to replace the RT types and that plus service cuts would have covered the RTLs and RTWs almost precisely. whilst leaving the 4500 odd RT's untouched by the end of 1968. Of course many of those were on London Country services, but the demise of the RT's really kicked in with the introduction of the DMs and DMs's

We went around the world doing the jobs the indigenous were too stupid and ignorant to do. Like build roads, railways, water and sewage systems, medicine, law, stopping them from constant fighting, and living in total squalor. I'm sure if a few aliens turned up with mega technology in exchange for some rocks we didn't know had any use, we'd have no objection. But to be inundated with the very people who can't keep their own countries together, who then turn our place into their crappy societies ain't good. I note the state of post colonial Zimbabwe, and the fact that the Hong Kong Chinese weren't particularly happy about decolonization. Enough of that "stealing resources" crap. Did we steal Arabia's oil, or make them ultra rich with no effort from themselves? Most of the Empire made a loss, and everything that we built for them fell to pieces soon after we left. South Africa used to boast the best hospitals in the world. Now look at them. All that cultural marxist guilt trip stuff don't work any more.

They have no allegiance to anything and have destroyed, on multiple occasions, gems of our culture and industry for nothing more than their own twisted pleasure (i.e. an ideology). The sooner we can put these people out of power and instill 1) A renewed national spirit and respect for our cultural heritage, 2) An equitable economical system closer to the style of e.g. Denmark, 3) Direct democracy of the British people in the style of e.g. Switzerland, then the sooner we can get back to having a real country and a real culture.

Crisp, clear imaging and bright colours of summer. A great contrast between the mini-skirted 60's dollybird and the bowler-hatted city gent. Sad to think that most of the people we see are now likely to be gone from this world. Recognised our turning south from Margaret Street into Regent Street. Towards the end we were in the city - Cornhill, I think, with the last clip in Fleet Street about opposite Chancery Lane, though I'll stand correction. Many thanks for sharing. Movies like this help remind me that my memory isn't playing tricks, that the world really was as bright and vibrant as my fading reollections.

Trunk road schemes in the 1930s usually incorporated cycle paths. Proper ones, 6' wide in each direction. When road improvements got under way again, after the post-war austerity was over, the road planners decided that cycle provision was wasteful, because the workers of the future would all have cars. This was why cycle infrastructure development came to an end, and is only now being re-discovered.

@Mr. Somebody - 80% to 90% of people in this short film would be dead. Judging by the footage, it's 1965 maybe 1966 at the latest. Mini skirts made an appearance in 65 and I can't see a car with anything later than a suffix C number plate which means 64-65. Fashions aren't vibrant/colourful enough for late 60's. The girl with the great legs wearing the mini skirt (starting at 0:11) is very likely in her early 70's now. The young lad at 1:41 (probably 11-12) will be in his mid 60's. The girl in the green top at 1:43 will be in her mid 70's. The two fairly youngish guys shortly afterwards will now be in their late 70's/early 80's. Seeing as the average life expectancy is 81, I suspect at least one of those people will be dead. The rest in this video will be almost certainly dead. The man walking towards the pigeons would be 110 if still alive as would the chap in the bowler hat at 1:50. The chaps in bowler hats walking into the red telephone boxes would be at least 100-105 if alive today. I could go on but there are a lot of people older than 40 in this video and the chances of them still being around are very low indeed. My wife's Grandma died very recently and she was 95. None of her old friends were still alive. 1966 is 52 years ago. It's a long time. If someone was my age in 1966, they'd be 89 now.

I'm still here hanging on at 73 and used to drive those lovely red buses all through the City and the West End for quite a few years. I moved away many years ago and won't go back, I want to savour the memories I had

Beautiful, it is just nostalgic. I wish I have experienced 60s London. What just amazed me about those times is how its... It's socio-culture... Live music on streets, people actually hang out with strangers, fashion... It is brilliant. My city Istanbul used to have a potential to be like this. Modern people, artistic activities, theatres... Unfortunately our current government ruined it, and now my precious country is down to some islamists who uses religion to gain power at ignorant parts of country, step by step they are destroying our education system and at the end we won't be able to get out of this situation. Now being a modern country just like London is a dream.

First of all, Turkey is a secular state. Even our fucking president is trying to change this, half of the population in Turkey is proud to be secular, so I am. The ''racist cunts'' you mean is probably the radical Islamists who have been a puppet of the current government. So at least the educated side of Turkey have no hate toward any religion or nation. Make sure of it. Armenians can be free and spend time here happily at the cities which intellectuals are more common, Artvin, İzmir etc. Secondly, we didn't steal any of the lands of Greeks, Armenians or Kurds. Kurds had been silent until 1978 when PKK first became active. They aim to establish a Kurdish state in Iraq, Syria, and Turkey. Even though those Turkish cities they want is being Turkified nearly 1000 years ago, they claim those place as theirs. It is also funny to call PKK ''freedom fighters'' when they organize terrorists attack at big cities such as Istanbul and Ankara. By the way, Islamic Turkish group called ''Eastern Turkistan Republic Movement'' in Western China try to establish a new Turkish state; organized terrorist attacks to China and claim those lands as theirs, and those lands belonged to Turks thousands of years ago which is true, right?. I don't mean they do the right thing, actually, they do the wrong thing, but when they are considered as terrorists, why PKK aren't recognized as terrorists? Or China conquered and settled in those lands thousands of years ago, just like Turks settled in Anatolia, why China isn't accepted as ''racists cunts'' but Turks do? This idea of ''the first one who conquers a land, always owns that land'' is stupid. Then British (Anglo-Saxons) Germans (Germanic) and French (Franks) should go back to where they come from, Northern Black Sea (Those tribes spread to Europe while the Migration Period). Lastly and most importantly, I want you to put yourself into my shoes. Many countries hate you and want to divide you, because of the current actions of a politician that wants to establish an anti-secular, Islamic dictatorship even though you support democracy and civil rights. What would you do? Would you accept yourself as a ''racist cunt''?
