London: Man stabbed to death on mobility scooter named

Thomas O'Halloran was stabbed to death in a "shocking act" of "unprovoked violence" while riding his mobility scooter in west London.
The Metropolitan Police is appealing to the public for information.

Been years since I felt safe whilst out on my mobility scooter in London. The abuse I get from drivers, cyclist and even some pedestrians is unbelievable. My wife is scared every time I leave the house now. Thoughts and prayer's for that poor chap, rest in peace my friend.

I live in Suffolk, I need crutches to walk and feel very vulnerable. People will walk on the road to let me past. I thank them and get a smile in return but because I'm young, I'm scared of getting a scooter because I know many have negative feelings about young people using them.

The family is definitely torn to pieces over this. The family has to deal with a series of nightmares such as seeing the murdered body of their family member, potential financial complications such as pensions, funeral costs, and claiming benefits and property left behind. Also, the murder scene will remain on the internet forever, so it will haunt his family wherever they go

I am ashamed at how much this country has fallen into ruin. Our borders are unsafe, our streets are unsafe, women and young girls are unsafe and now our elderly and disabled are unsafe. God bless this poor man, who whatever the circumstances, did not deserve to have his life ended in this horrific way. Policing failure. There is no visible deterrent. All officer are sitting in cars on their Facebook accounts. We don’t need more police, we need to get officers back on the beat. This tragedy was avoidable but the force is being mis managed.

Me either. I've got issues. I know people worse off than me too, bad starts in life, hard drugs, mental breakdowns etc, etc. Between us we've killed a grand total of 0 people. Possibly even saved a few at times. But yeah, issues, background blah blah bs. Whoever did this is just broken, can't be fixed. Catch them, lock them up in the worst place we can & forget about them, then try to fix the awful mess this country is in so at least that old fella won't have died for nothing.

I have been told by a London police officer that instructions to reduce police presence in public have been issued from the top of the London administration and that many new recruits were totally unsuited for the job , in some cases letting suspects go for fear of being accused of discrimination or racism. If this is the case, this murder should really not come as a surprise.

Minimum of 18 years but more likely 25, especially since the victim was vulnerable. Contrary to popular belief, a life sentence does often mean a life sentence, they're just allowed to request a parole hearing after their minimum term. They don't just get let out after those 25 years.

I went past the scene while paramedics were doing their utmost to save him. There was around 20 emergency vehicles that responded. 8-10 people tending to him. They tried their best.
