Everything you e said, you could be my daughter speaking. Anorexia at 11, she got diagnosed with autism 1 year ago. She’s now 18 and still really struggling with her ED. But you sound so alike. You are so brave. Thank you for speaking up. I shall show this to my daughter. Keep fighting Fi, you’re amazing. xx

I have now officially watched every single one of your videos on here and Ohhh Fi. You are an ABSOLUTELY amazing person. I can't imagine how much of a struggle this process had to be for you. Ive had an Eating Disorder for 33 years but no recovery attempts. You are an inspiration to us all and I am so thankful to have been able to watch you from the beginning to where you are now. Your good days and your not so good. You held strong. I am so proud of you and all you have accomplished. I have also recently been diagnosed with Autism (I'm 39 today!) So a late diagnosis for me too but it's been so eye opening. I hope you will continue to update us now and then. Sending you lots and lots of love and appreciation ❤ R.

That was amazing Fi! You spoke so well and I know everyone there will have been so impressed with your presentation just as I am. Every ED service should be shown this, everyone working in the medical field actually. Feel very proud of you and I literally clapped at the end along with the audience x

Fi, I’m so proud of you. You explained that so clearly & I know how that talk has already started to become a real discussion especially on eating disorder units. I truly believe that you have made a HUGE difference in the eating disorders of planning recovery. I’m not autistic but after 40 years of an ongoing eating disorder I’m only just beginning to be heard when I say, I’m an individual, please treat me as one. I’ve now made people aware of this but there still needs a huge change. People adapt differently. Like autism. The usual treatment for an eating disorder is not going to work for everyone. People cope & adapt in different ways. And whilst I am not autistic I have plenty of other labels that people don’t understand or can’t be bothered to understand. So those labels are added to with words like can’t be bothered, too complex, lazy, not trying, won’t engage etc. You should be so proud Fi. Because I’m so proud of you along with many others. ❤ xxx

Thanks Fi, you're a star. thank you for having the courage, words and conviction to speak about this. You almost identically described my own process of developing AN, unsuccessful treatments, and getting better through discovering you're autistic. I've never had the words and you are getting this message out to so many people. It will help countless people. Thank you 😊 xx

@@Finding_Fi not at all Fi, you’re a very special person and although I don’t know you in person, I can tell across the screen! If we knew each other in real life, I’m sure we’d be great friends as our lives are quite similar and our personalities. Sending love Fi 🩵🩵

I had no idea the intensity of what you have been through. Your self awareness and communication skills are key to doctors treatment to other patient's. I think all eating disorder treatment centers need to read the research about the cormorbidity with eating disorders and Autism. People need to here personal narratives such as yours . U are amazing Fi .hugs

I totally relate to you in many ways. I know what its like to feel like everything I do is wrong, and having anorexia causes feelings of accomplishment in some sense. Youre not alone with any of these feelings, the struggles and guilty feelings of failure, etc. Keep fighting Fi! You are so worth it.

@@Finding_FiI am so sorry for just seeing your response and answering now. 😔 Thank you so much for your kindness and understanding, and for offering such a safe space, not even my family understands, I don't blame them but it hurts a lot. I had to move back home from uni and since then it's mostly been 'you're pretending just to ruin my life' 'you're just lazy and finally found an excuse' and so much more. I'm trying so hard to not be so hurt and try to accept that being different is not wrong and I am not just a problem but it's so difficult, and where I live mental health is pretty much a joke, everyone is just considered crazy and put on sedatives.. But I don't want to end this on such a sad note, so thank you, again, you give me and so many others hope and strength to keep going 🤍

Wow what a proud moment. How eloquent you speak, how alive you became when talking about how you FEEL now. I believe my daughter has autism - she’s been told she has a social anxiety disorder - how do I help her progress from just that? It’s just a symptom that she could understand so much more if she looked into the world of autism. But that’s me speaking not her. (Her eating disorder is eating too much )
