It occupies all but the last 100 metres of Walthamstow's High Street. It is reputed to be a mile long, but in fact measures approximately one kilometre

I'm Walthamstow born & raised and the market used to be so much better in the past with more variety where as now it's mainly fruit, clothes and mobile phone stalls! It's definitely gone down hill a bit, Romford Market is better! But you should explore more of Walthamstow like The Village and vestry House museum, Lloyd's Park, Walthamstow wetlands, pump House museum, and parts of Epping Forest which border the borough too! 👍🇬🇧❤️

really the longest in europe towards the last third of the market there are no stalls it's been like that for a few years now there's is a bigger market in amsterdam now because of this in the old days walthamstow was great even the pie and mash shop has closed down

Somebody on the chat advised me to film this market and said is the longest in Europe. After a few Google searches I realised I have to go and see it. I don't know how was before, as Is my first time in Walthamstow area

Back in 2004 the market was indeed long, over the years its shrunk and now today its no longer long, it used to stretch from Hoe street to the International Fruit SHOP at St James Street. Many stallholders retired, moved away or packed it in. However housing developers and the useless council continue to dwell on past glories and refer to it as the 'longest market' in europe.
