When ever Londons Burning is brought up in conversation this crash is the thing I always talk about as it was so well done I've never forgotten it.

Wow i remember this, it sent a chill down my spine with that screeching at the end.

This scene was filmed at what is now Longcross studios,Chertsey ,same location as the coach crash in series 4 👍🏼

What works fantastically with the addition of the third engine is that you know at least one of the blackwall engines is in the crash, but you’re left wondering which one if not both, the only identifier to any of them is the yellow helmet which would signify which is Echo 441, the other two have white helmets visible meaning one of them is 442 but we don’t know which. Infact as is later revealed in the Season 10 opener the order actually changes 442 is the Appliance at the front of convoy, which is what crashes into the lorry, and 441 is flipped over the embankment and is smashed to pieces, but if you look at the window leading up to the crash the second Engine has a white helmet meaning it must be from the other station. now admittedly you have to be able to slow it down and have good eyesight, but you for a split second see that White Helmet, but i can't tell if this was meant to be 442 or the other station engine, but my guess is this was NOT meant to be 442, but when Skippys actor got the sack, they decided to change it so the previously undamaged and uninvolved 441 now had to go over so they could write in the plot point about Skippy being made Permanently unfit.

The most horrific crash I’ve ever seen in LB.

I remember watching this "live" on itv as a Teenager. Me, my mum and dad were all swearing at the TV when the credits rolled. It was a long wait for the following series. I loved how they had the Fire engines switching places so viewers couldn't see who was in what appliance.

The penultimate shot of the woman is one of the scariest things I've seen in the show! Not BECAUSE of her face, but because you know the vehicle is sliding down the embankment towards her and you think it might hit her! I personally blame that construction worker, but if it weren't for him we wouldn't have such an epic series finale!

I remember watching this on holiday, it stuck with me for years, always wondered what happened in the next episode. Turns out, very little! Still, this show was amazing in the early 90's

@DowdsyProductions1 I think the final shot of the appliance sliding towards camera (obviously a remote one, but so perfectly postioned), having all the soil being thrown at it to cover the lens, cutting to black seamlessly, the woman's scream echoing over total darkness, then the credits rolling is terrifying and horrific of equal measure. Perfectly executed, and very reminiscent of the Series 4 finale, when Hallam breaks down with his wife, with flashbacks of the wall collapsing on top of him.

Those Dennis RS Fire Engines are fantastic, they don't deserved to be wrecked, but they were already showing their age, but at least, a good selection are preserved in museums and by private owners.

I still can't quite understand how it did indeed turn out to be false alarm after all.

ITV 3 should bring London's Burning back on a night with the repeats from series 1 to the last series

londons burning was ledge programme. remember watching it when i was a kid on a sunday night

I remember watching this episode and trying to work out who was in what appliance. And when the 3rd appliance joined the convoy that also had a station officer on-board, well that threw my workings out every time. Notice how after the crash, the 3rd appliance is never to be seen again lol. Best series finale ever!!!!!

Both of those pumps crashing are still nightmare-worthy to this day 8 years later. Impaling, falling down an embankment with people at the bottom... the most chaos I've ever seen in this show!

I remember the coach crash back in series 4. The episode recall first came into it. I always thought that the appliance crash was in the same place as the coach crash. Only because I’m actually watching that episode on drama tv at this very moment. Although I liked the Volvo Saxon of the later series, nothing was more better than the Dennis rs. I believe 2 at least still exist. One was destroyed in said episode and the other exploded in the gas cylinder episode.

@rockandroll626 the uniforms were only being tested, they got the new volvo saxon appliances in series 10. in the first episode of series 10 they had 1 dennis and 1 volvo

Even when you watch these big cliffhangers and you watch what happens after is something a fan can definitely look on if revisiting a certain series such as London’s Burning.

RS's and SS's probably the ugliest pumps Dennis ever produced. They all suffered from DDR (Dennis door rot) to some degree. The Sabre XL was probably the finest appliance Dennis ever produced. We called it the armchair, comfortable, fast, responsive and handled really well. Superb piece of kit.

there were only testing them out there were changed back to the modern uniforms after series 9 but the middle of series 11 there changed to a different colour

Oh my gosh, what just happened? That has got to be the first time ever that I've seen a emergency vehicle crash when it's going out on an emergency call. But to me, it sounds like that this video has been tampered with.........

The 1st episode of the new series was terrible though. They gave about 1 minute to the crash and then... 3 months later screen... followed by, look we're ok. Apart from Skippy; he got PU'd. Which was mentioned in casual conversation. Waited a year from this episode to the next, just to see 1 minute of them crashesd.
