Finally, someone who had a similar experience as I did with the FPS suddenly dropping by around 50+. I have the SMG version and out of the box it was hitting 390 FPS. Then after about 2 days of just minor use from plinking, the FPS went down to 330, sometimes as low as 310. I tried changing to a stronger spring but even one that was supposed to give 450 FPS was only giving me 390-400 FPS. Took it to my airsoft tech and he said it was probably an air seal leak. He went in and fixed it and that solved the problem. It actually shot a lot better than stock after he fixed the air seal. What used to be 400 FPS was now 480 FPS. Guess the factory job wasn't very good. In all honesty, one of the main reasons I got the EVO was because of all the hype about how it was the best out of box SMG, and how it being made outside of Asia meant the quality was better. After my personal experience, I wholeheartedly disagree.

Had my SMG version for nearly 3 years and its still on its original gears. The hop is dying however but at 3 years old with heavy use I cant be mad. I agree with everything you said though even down to the bottom of the high caps coming off.

Bit late to the party but I have had this gun for quite a while now. The battery problem is a MASSIVE issue for me as it means I can only put in fairly small batteries, which limits the rate of fire and how responsive the gun is. I luckily haven't had any problems with air-leak or particularly poor FPS. Mine is running at around 270 ish on a 0.2

Great review, just bought one. Used it twice and yep pretty amazing trigger responce. Also am preparing to give it to the airsoft tech as soon as the gears sh@t themselves as very likely to happen, thanks for the heads up. Shame you didn't mention the pre installed mosfet and 6.03 barrel. Anyway keep up the good work.

Reason the gearbox messes up sometimes is apparently cause the EU/M95 version is not meant to take an 11.1 battery, it can cause damage to it etc cause of the lower fps limits, don't quote me but that's what I heard, I use a 7.4 Lipo and it runs ok, no problems after 6 months of Sunday games, so... I might just be lucky haha, very good video btw, totally honest, not all the good stuff, also lets viewers know about the bad as well.

Great review, and more honest then most (that is good). I take it you have the latest version, I have heard there are more gear problems with those then with the previous year (2018?) model.

The gear problems with the Evo are on a case by case basis. I havent had any problems with them yet (although I hear alot of people having them break). Airseal also no issues here.

Nice, honest review. I have the SMG variant. After about 4 flawless months of CQB I went to game it outside and experienced the same problems you have described: massive drop in FPS (no compression), and eventual gear lockup. For the compression, was it the cylinder and cylinder head that were giving you the issue, or the piston?

Hello, what do you mean by Air seal chamber , never hear of it in airsoft, do you mean piston head and cylinder head o-rings ?

Damn, was just about to pull the trigger on getting this gun (parden the pun) after seeing it appear on multiple 'the best' lists of 2019 and 90% of reviews didn't mention gear problems and the small battery space seemed to be the major issue, then I watched your vid. Do you have any idea how prevalent this problem can be? Perhaps a batch problem? I don't doubt what your saying but how the hell has this gun been on so many 'best airsoft guns and SMG list's' with such a big outstanding issue? Hmm...Great honest review thou.
