Hi Angel !! I listened to this version of the song several times about two years ago, and really liked it a lot. I posted some stuff back then about choices of variations in the lyrics of the chorus and you replied, if you remember. Now the buzz about episode 3 of the "Last of Us" has brought me back, and I find I like your version all the more, better than any other covers out there. And I like it as much as Linda's versions with full band backing and studio production etc. And BTW, my other favorite "cover" is by Jerry Jeff Walker from 1989 "Live at Gruene Hall". On that I especially like the pedal-steel lick that Lloyd Maines puts at the end of the choruses (and elsewhere). You might consider using some version of that in your guitar arrangement, Angel. I use a guitar variation of that lick, and I've seen some of my listeners really perk up when I hit it right after "for a long long time" in the vocals (actually, starting at "time" I think). Almost like I was a real musician like you, and not just an old creep faking it haha !!

The vocal delivery is beyond beautiful: it’s got raw feeling and authenticity, the vibrato is either subdued or brave, but always there and the vocal colorig..oh my! I was floored. Great appreciation from an amateur singer here, congrats!

Listen Angel, I'm a long time Linda Ronstadt fan, and I mean LONG time (pardon the puns), and I believe Linda had the second best voice in music history (yep, sorry, Barbra always #1 imo). Nobody on YT that tries to cover Linda's songs succeed. Actually, the the majority of singers on YT are either ok at best or just plain suck. But, I want to tell you, dear Angel, that your voice, with a few lessons and training, has the potential to become legendary. I truly mean that. I hear it. But you have to want it. Your tone, vibrato and soulfulness is captivating. You are actually the closest thing to Ronstadt's voice I have heard yet on here and you did an awesome job on this song. You are great, but but I don't think you're hitting anywhere close to your potential. Your power is just waiting to EXPLODE! So let it!! You have the look, the personality and the voice to go somewhere special. And I hope you do because we out here need you! Bless...

A comment about lyrics in the chorus -- "think I'm gunna love you for a long, long time" -- other versions vary that, with some iterations going "think I'm gunna miss you for a long, long time" and "think it's gunna hurt me for a long, long time" -- your're doing "think I'm gunna love you ..." all four times in this performance, I think -- good, I guess, if that's most meaningful to you -- I myself lean hard on the "hurt me" and "miss you" versions, but maybe that's a sign that I'm too ego-centric and selfish, haha !!

@@tomzimmerman7573 I actually prefer those lyrics very much as well. I'd just learned this song and was very anxious to sing this on my channel that it slipped from my mind when I did it, as it's not the easiest song to sing haha. I love the way it was originally written.

@@Angelcakes Well, your performance is great, and you doing the choruses' lyrics like that gave me something good for me to think about haha !! If I remember correctly, from back when I was hearing Linda R's original hit version on the radio back in like 1970, she only sang "gunna love you for a long long time" on the final iteration, and that seemed extra effective. And seems like I've heard many assorted permutations of "gunna miss you", "gunna hurt me", "gunna love you" in other versions over the years, and I'm not sure which order I like the best -- depends on the mood maybe haha !!

Angel you should try covering some Joan Baez numbers like Joe Hill, you have the old soul vocal timbre and pain, the latter being very important for covering classic tunes

Good try. She needs to learn to sustain notes. The rhythm is not constant. Some chords are wrong. The phrasing needs attention. Some wrong notes in the singing. All a bit flat, linear. Diction, articulation is an issue.
