Long Mynd Burwat Loop Day Hike - Shropshire Walk - Cooking Lunch on a Tin of Shoe Polish Stove

Күн бұрынThe First of two videos from my recent visit to the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In this video I pick a very windy day to walk to the top of Long Mynd via the Burway Loop. Of course nothing with me is ever straightforward as I have minimal outdoor equipment and gear with me as I am working away from home. So with the best intentions I head to some shops to see what gear I can grab and make work for a day hike. Will a tin of shoe polish suffice as a stove? Watch and find out.

Fun adventure! I have sympathy for you in all that wind! I know what it’s like when you’re getting pushed around so much. Fun lunch, beautiful views and pretty creeks! Great improvising 🤣👍

It was amazingly consistent windspeed, not gusts, but just permanently full on! But the views were certainly worth it and I love the sound of the running water! The improvised stove turned out great! I can honestly say that I have never even thought of cooking on a shoe polish tin. hmmm. seems it works Aggy. thanks for another proven tip by trial and error. looks like some really 'wild' land to view and hike in. atb

A stunning area for sure, I think this trail is something of a tourist hotspot in the warmer months though. But some beautiful unspoilt rugged views to enjoy. When the shoe polish idea popped into my head in the store, I kept thinking 'why haven't I seen anyone else try this; this has gotta work, right?'' Fortunately for me it worked! Hey Des 👋🏼 Yup real enjoyed this one, nice area, quite accessible for all ages and abilities. A very nice setup for National Trust, I was dreading the thought of the clipboards descending on me whilst in the cafe 🤦🏻♂️🤣 and pleasantly surprised when they didn't appear ☺️👏🏼

Hey there thanks for watching, I actually had to go back and watch this to remind myself of this video. You know I did go for the the trig point touch but just as I did the wind whipped up and made such a racket through the mic, I ended up having to snip it out. Glad you enjoyed it, the shoe polish stove is possibly my best idea since using flamin' hot cheetos as tinder. Many thanks for the sub, tis much appreciated.
