It's scary how quickly I went from "Hmm, that's a novel idea but not really for me" to "GO ON NUMBER 7 YOU BAG OF BONES. DADDY NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF SHOES!" I should probably never visit a racetrack in real life...

CORRECTIONS: 20:11 - I forgot to remove a refilmed version of this turn. Ignore what I say until 20:37, sorry for missing this while editing the video! 36:29 - They only completed a column, not a row as well. They should only have taken one concession bonus here instead of two. 46:45 - The horse die is an 8, so they either have to use that value or cross out a wild horseshoe. Unfortunately in this case they did not use the wild as they would have had to in order to bet on horse #3.

Excellent video! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I’ve had this game sitting in the box still in the shrink wrap for a few weeks while I make up my mind as to whether or not I want to give it a try. The last couple of games I bought looked great in the videos that I watched and ended up being somewhat of a dud when actually playing it ourselves. Your video was very informative and help me decide that I will in fact remove the game from the shrink wrap and give it a try. Thanks again!

This looks like a wild fun time! I could def see the backwards movement bothering some people. As long as everyone knows that going in, they should be able to enjoy the ride

You can tell Y made a mistake in the concession area. You get 4 X's for rows and 4 for columns. That is 8 total X's. You have 9 X's marked in the bonus section.

At 20:38 the explanation for betting on horse 3 is repeated but the decision changed. Not a rules thing, just a change of mind. An old decision left in

I'm really interested in this game but I just refuse to play roll and write. I wish there was a way to play this without the writing aspect, then I'd be all in.

FWIW I also love the game Winner's Circle which has a somewhat similar vibe and is not a roll & write.

At 36:29 you say Y gets two concession bonuses. How does that happen? All I can see is a column being completed. Did I miss something?

Dang, you are right. I got caught up in all the bonuses they got on that turn and accidentally gave them one too many! Thanks for pointing this out, I've added a note about it to the Klingon subtitles and the pinned corrections comment.

Does anyone know if this interaction works? If Player1 owns Two Lucky and the die rolls on 3. Can player1 use their wildcard to change it to a 2 and claim its ability? Or do Wildcards not activate abilities?

At 36:38, when you made another $3 bet on horse 6, shouldn't you have reduced your money by $3? Also, does anyone know what makes horse 8 pay out so much more than horse 1? I mean, why the different multipliers?

The different odds are due to how often they appear as secondary movements on other horses

I forget the time stamps but late in the game Player Y bet on horses that weren't rolled on the die without spending wilds.

Ha, yeah I've gone back and forth about how to show it on camera. I used to always go right to left with player boards because that was "clockwise" from my perspective sitting behind them and the camera. Then it was pointed out to me that the board and table are usually what is actually used for clockwise order and I've decided to start showing it that way instead.

Do u have to use the dry erase marker? I'm just wondering because dry erase markers never last.

I suppose you could scan and print out pieces of paper, but buying new dry erase markers if these dry out is probably simpler.

Whoever designed the player boards made a critical error in having the money where it is because it's the most common place someone will rest their hand to mark the options on the left, which I've seen result in players accidentally wiping off their dollar amounts. I really need to also invest in a set of good write on/wipe off markers to use in all my games that need them, since everyone seems to use these same markers and they aren't the greatest. Other than that, this is a really fun game.

Nice playthrough. I own the board game and it is a family favorite, Thought this was an instant buy till I saw you can move the horses backwards. that's just plain ridiculous. Will really make the game longer and makes the theme completely useless. My horse could be one space from the finish in a 6 player game and I could find myself back at the start line. How is that horse racing.

Glad to hear that the board game is a fav. However, there are several cards in the board game that move horses backwards.

I think the original board game had this as well. I prefer to imagine that the horse is slowing down, so horses behind it can pass it (appearing like it's moving backwards).
