I wanted to add that I lost 70 pounds using this Keto diet of LCHF/IF seven years ago and have kept it off. It took me well over a year to lose it because of my age, thyroid problem and hormone balance but I did it. I still weigh myself at least once a week and maintain a healthy weight of 107-110 lbs. I am 72 and I feel so much more energetic and have no more "senior moments" of brain fog thanks to getting my body healthy again. Once in a great while, I splurge with a high carb of some sort but always keep it to a small portion. I no longer count my Total Carbs but continue to eat pretty much only non starchy vegetables and I do not eat past 7:00 pm. It is still working well for me.

@@SybellaOwens Thank you, Sybella but I hate to admit this but since around thanksgiving last year, I started eating lots of carbs. Stress of the year 2020, etc. and I have regained thirty-two pounds. Not proud of myself and feeling pretty deflated right now but hopefully, I can get back into the mind set to not gain any more and to lose the stupid weight I gained. I know, I knew better but mac and cheese, tuna melts just made me feel so much better. I am hoping Spring will be better. Thanks for your congrats though.

Over 20 years ago I lost 30 pounds on meat and low carb veg. The person promoting the diet said not to stay on it for more than 30 days. That was ok at the time because I had lost all the weight needed. Too bad I didn’t know then what I know now because I gained all the weight back and then some until recently. I could have been eating that way all these years and been fit and trim. I was stupid to believe them even after I had experienced the transformation. Never again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I'm back in Ketosis exactly one week and I have to stay in this state as I feel SO MUCH better all round. It makes no sense to eat carbs ever again (not referring to healthy carbs from keto-friendly veggies of course). I'm a 51 yr old woman and almost immediately (well ok after 3-4 days in) my joints feel a lot less stiff and sore. My brain feels so much clearer and although a usually upbeat person anyway, my mood is off the charts. Sugar and processed carbs are actual and literal poisons for everyone. It's too damn bad they just don't stop selling them - but there's too much money to be made in making people sick and that's the bottom line. It's unreal, when you really think of it that cannabis, which is an extremely beneficial plant both for healing and for nutrition, is actually illegal in most countries still to varying degrees. I don't smoke cigarettes nor cannabis but what I wouldn't to have access to pure THC/CBD cannabis oil! With a proper clean Keto diet, regular fasting and access to cannabis and light exercise, I firmly believe we'd have the ability to live to 120 yrs.

Science has identified essential fatty acids and essential amino acids that must be consumed but there is no essential carbohydrate so, logically, how could a low carb high fat adequate protein diet be unhealthy? The real question (that we all know the answer to) is what are the long term effects of filling one half to two thirds of your diet with nonessential carbs.

100% agreed! Why is it that with all the advancements in medical and nutritional sciences we have the highest rates of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, auto immune conditions, depression, etc etc we ever had? The answer is the high carb diet.

If you knew more about biochemistry, you would know, that we need a lot of "essential" things only in smaller amounts and the non - essential things in much higher amounts. What do you think, why our bodies can "build" their own glucose? Because it is essential for living... The same we can say about saturated fats. In literature they call them not necessary, because it is not essential. But your body does create saturated fats, because he needs them. We are omnivores, who have different genes, activity levels etc... which influence our needs for the macros. All natural living populations have one thing in common: They don't eat any industrial seed oils and highly processed foods. As long as you stay away from that evil seed oils, you can eat all macros dependend on your lifestyle and preferences... Inuits have a genetic mutation, which prevents them from being in ketosis! Why? Because ketosis is not our natural state, but can be very healing for short term therapeutical reasons!

At my last physical a few months ago, after going through the usual checking of weight, blood pressure, pulse, breathing, etc, my doctor used the term 'fit' to describe me. I've been doing low carb/keto over 2 years at this point. His tune changed after my bloodwork came back. I had no cancer indicators for prostate, none for gastrointestinal. Creatinine great, A1C great, HDL great, Triglycerides great, but... my LDL came back high, which in turn elevated my total Cholesterol. Suddenly he wanted me on statins, which I politely declined. He actually told me 'you're among those who risk dying in their sleep'. I told him there were worse ways to go... How do I find a PCP who is low carb educated, and is also on my insurance?

If you like your doctor, you could show him/her some of the videos by Dave Feldman and Ivor Cummins. Dave's videos show how cholesterol can be manipulated by diet. Ivor's address heart issues. Somewhere in their videos they point out that people live longer with more cholesterol. Otherwise, ask your insurer for a list of doctors and start polling them. Carbs no longer rule over me. I’ve lost 80 pounds starting 5-21-19 to 1-25-20 and now maintaining by just adjusting how much of the same foods I’ve been eating over the last 12 months. It’s really easy because I never reintroduced carbs so just add and subtract foods by what you see on the scale. Getting light? Add a couple extra eggs for breakfast, an extra salad sometime during the day and an extra pork chop or what have you for supper. Start to gain just take the extra away. As long as you leave carbs out you won’t ever get those cravings and the “shakes”. Thanks Docs

To all of those naysayers: do not believe your way is the only right way to lose weight and get healthy; politely allow others the freedom to choose which diet program works best for their bodies and lifestyle. There is not one specific diet that will work on all people. This diet has been proven to not only help many people lose weight but the loss is permanent if they choose to continue eating LCHF options and practice intermittent fasting. This program allows people to consume the fiber found in non-starchy vegetables that some people are concerned about not getting enough of and the necessary protein and fats the body needs to repair itself and fuel it efficiently, When people regain their lost weight, it is usually because they let old habits of consuming poor quality carbs (generally processed foods) creep back into their lives. My opinion.

When you feel extra hungry crack a few extra eggs, or eat some cheese, eat a pat of butter on an extra pork chop. I started with Atkins in 2002 for IBS and SIBO. and have been refining my LCHF since,. Im now very high fibre with large amounts of overground veg, eggs avocados, fish, chicken and small amounts of red meat. Removed dairy and coconut oil, lessened red meat to bring down the LDL. So Im an N1 example with 21years experience. Id be happy to share my results to any study. For proof of this approach, last year- 2022 I set a new world record in my sport of freediving (masters women age-group) My only fear is whether Stevia, that I use is glycating/ oxidising my LDL... if anyone has studies that could link me to would be great. Im going to have an LDL lipid profile screen soon which will tell what kind of LDL i have circulating (Large benign LDLs or small glycated ones that lay down atherosclerotic plaque)

There are really two types of LDL. The smaller bad LDL and the larger fluffy type LDL. Doctors often do not communicate this to the patient and so your LDL level may be high but because you have more of the good LDL and the doc says it's critically high because he won't say that not all LDL is bad. Worse, he doesn't know.

Carbs are not essential but the body's preferred and primary full source is glucose.. Carbs are not the devil they are the victim of someone elses crime. What the entire ketoverse is missing is that while protein and glucose raise insulin acutely and transiently, overfeeding with fat raises insulin slightly AT ALL TIMES. eating ANYTHING raises insulin to some degree. Glucose and protein lead to more acute and transient insulin elevations, while fat raises what is essentially basal insulin, much more subtly but for a longer period of time
@exoticspeedefy7916
@exoticspeedefy7916 3 жыл бұрын
@Randall Glatt Fat raises insulin for a longer period it just takes longer to hit as high. sugar spikes higher for a shorter period then drops. I'd rather not have insulin constantly elevated longer. That is why the consensus is to not eat too much fat or carbohydrate in one go
