I once had a friend who tried so hard with the "my uncle works at Nintendo" lie that he fabricated an "official" employee badge. Needless to say, MS Paint isn't a good option for these kinds of lies.

We all had that one friend who told the first lie that we believed, and then we'd hear it again in a different way and begin to see them as a pathological liar.

I think people lie for no reason because they feel insecure. They may feel they are not good enough and need to lie in order for them to make themselves feel better about themselves.

My best friend growing up was sort of like this, and I caught on at the start of high school and just decided to ignore it. In college, we found out she was lying about going to classes so she got kicked out, and lied to her mom by blaming it on me and our other friends. But she was too embarrassed about getting kicked out and not coming back right away, so she lied to us about still going to the local community college. I worked in admissions at the time so I knew exactly how the process to get readmitted worked so I knew she was lying, and then after a rent-related fiasco, I cut her out of my life completely. It just makes me sad that she felt obligated to lie when our entire friend group would’ve completely supported her no matter what her situation was.

This is something more serious tbh. Its like an addiction for some people to lie. They can’t stop lying on everything they talk about and it pisses me off so much.

I think the most hilarious one he told me was that he was a government experiment and that the fundamental laws such as gravity didn’t apply to him.

I had a homeboy in middle school who had a story for EVERYTHING. Literally, we were talking about one of the Fast and Furious movies and he claimed to have dragged race in one of those types of cars. Detailed story and all. LMAO.

He started catching himself before it became pathological. Just expressing it in case anyones in this situation. If they are a close friend, talk to them you might be doing you both a favor one way or another

My favorite was once at a party we decided to see how full of it he was and decided to talk about ejecting seats from cars.... Sure enough, Homeboy comes in and starts talking about how he's worked on things like that and the mechanics of it. He started drawing pictures to explain the physics behind it. There are some ridiculous humans out there.

I remember working with a 20 yr old kid a few years ago, he lied his ass off about everything with a straight face, he could dunk on everyone (he was 5'3) how he had 150 pairs of sneakers, how he would just walk away from cops for drunk driving or being high and how he fukced all the supervisors. I could have called him out as a liar but I wanted for him to grow up and and see what kind of bigger lies he would say in the future

I have multiple family members who do this exact shit. Make up wild stories, and stick to em, and really expect people to believe it. My cousin said when he was 10 yrs old, he uppercutted another kid so hard, he literally lifted off the ground and did a back flip and landed on his stomach. He’s now 30, and still insists it’s true.

There was a kid in my freshmen year of high school who always had some crazy ass story that involved the cops. And in these stories he would always be threatening the cops, running away from the cops, or nearly get sent to jail by the cops, but somehow he always ended up getting off and would be in school to tell the story the next day during lunch. Shit was insane.

Funny thing is, the liar always thinks we believe them. In reality, it's just easier to not call them out since they'll get defensive and argue.

I have an ex that does this. Every 2-4 years, he comes back in my DMs giving me updates about his life that I do not want or need. And I knew the updates were lies because even on his social media he couldn't keep track of the lies. He told me he was engaged and I wrote congratulations on the upcoming nuptials under a picture he posted of him and his partner. He kept deleting my post then came into my DMs saying that I didn't know anything about him, I wanted to know what was going on in his life so bad, and whoever was feeding me information was giving me wrong information. I copied and posted the DMs he sent me two weeks earlier on his page and DM'd them to him.
