The Jazz bass is more versatile in tones, but I would choose that Musicman all day long (smile). ... the new Musicman basses have that signature sound but those from the 70’s especially with the roasted maple fretboards are a special breed.
@MuscleDad4203 жыл бұрын
I explain the difference to my clients in this way: Jazz Bass is a surgeon's scalpel -- it's precise and cuts through. Meanwhile, a Precision Bass is a machete. Depending on your tone and how you play the latter, it can sit in the mix and be unobtrusive or it can sit out front and clear the path for the rhythm section to stand out.
@AlexRamosDrTaz3 жыл бұрын
..or you do what some of us have done and grab a PJ bass instead. My choice? MIM early 90s Fender P-Bass Special with passive P and J in the bridge. 2 band active EQ with mix knob. I get your point though. :)

I have a beast identical setup but a 2017 American Elite Jazz bass and a mark bass 112 combo with extension cab 112 and it's awesome definitely that Marcus Miller tone all day long the jazz bass is the undisputed king of bass guitars and it's the most emulated and copied bass ever for a reason

I've got a 1999 JB. Same colour as yours but with a tortoise shell scratch plate. I took that off a put a red one in it's place. I enjoy messing around with the colour scheme (without doing anything irreversible of course). Those pot control knobs you have with the fender logo are cool. I've never seen them before. I love the way the brass hardware is a similar colour to the aged varnish headstock. Was that intentional? I'm off to ebay to see if I can get them in silver 🤩
@edwardbrown5613 жыл бұрын
First fender I ever got was a 13 Select, and you're right, it will play about ever tone there is. Funny though when going to a studio the producer will hand off a well set up Precision, because it only does 1 sound lol. I like em all. Is that an original 70s Jazz or a repo? There's so many Fenders it's hard to keep up with them all

I own 2 Jazz basses and like other sheeple I wanted a Fender , after playing other basses I now realise Fenders are over rated hyped up crap both my Fenders have dead spots all over the neck , they constantly need adjustments take off the scratch plate and there is hardly any wood left from the CNC routing , if you must have a fender style bass your better off with a squire they are just as good and half the price, by the way there are hundreds of quality basses out there that sound better and cost less money.
