Texas Longhorn is one of the oldest breeds in United States. Few centuries ago there were more predators than now, so the horns helped the cattle to protect themselves from coyotes and other predators.

I figured only boys have horns but I guess not this type..I'm only used to dairy cows black n white

There are two types of cattle based on horns. One that grows horns and the other that doesn't. The ones which don't grow horns are called Polled. If it's horned genetics, both cow and bull will have horns in different sizes. In case of polled genetics neither of them will have horns.
