What's frustrating is the people angry & scrambling here now had the money & time warning to prepare ahead of time. It is so senseless! Our hearts go out to those who did not have the means &/or health to prepare.

Remember during COVID everyone made a rush on toilet paper and Clorox/Lysol cleaning wipes. People hoarded those items. I know I had to search to find t-paper, I never could find cleaning wipes. It just reminds us of what might happen in a large disaster or war.

Well Texans can see all four seasons plus some extreme weather conditions sometimes within a few hours of each other, on the same day! Plus, you’re suggesting Lester or any other male use some common sense and make better/safer choices while taking cover during a category 1 hurricane that recently made landfall hours earlier, for his protection, safety and well being! That’s just a sampling of their male behavior, I can almost bet too it was an intentional, rationalized, well thought out and executed emergency plan! lol 🤔😳🤪

Norma here. You were so lucky for the direction the wind was blowing. Can you imagine how unsettling and dangerous it would have been those winds and gusts were hitting the side of the RV? It’s great that Lex was able to sleep through it all, but at least you had sense enough to make him move to the back away from those swaying trees. Thank you also for keeping Sadie inside with you. I don’t care what kind of dog you have, they should never be left outside in those conditions. The other animals have no choice but to take the brunt of the storm. The noise inside the shelters was probably more scary to them than being in the wide open. Praise God that both you and Jami were safe as was the rest of your family. I feel so sad for Buddy and Stephanie having to cut short their vacation to drive 20 hours back home knowing what has happened, but not really knowing the full extent of the damage. Praying the damage is not too extensive. They knew the family would rally behind them and most of you did, even Tony.

I plan and get stuff ahead of time. I can't get much, we have a small place and a mobile home at that. DeLand Florida. I will get gas usually the day before. I don't want to have all that gas around to go bad before I can use it. I know I could put it in our vehicles and we do. It is just a pain in the butt. I don't over buy because I just don't have the storage. I get enough for a week for now 4 adults.

😮 from the time we were little, it's been in our heads, if the tank is half full, you're empty, fill up. With all the other "prepared" ways we were raised, I've never been in a position of needing to be at a gas station or store during an "emergency situation". Very thankful for that. Not even COVID fazed us 😊

I live in southwest Florida and during my first year here I learned the hard way to be prepared long before a hurricane comes. During the season I now keep a pantry full of nonperishable food, 20+ empty gallon bottles that I can fill with water before a storm comes, batteries for my lanterns, small fans and weather radio, kitty litter and cat food for a month along with paper supplies the same . My med scripts overlap so I have plenty in case the pharmacy has to be closed for a time. Have a camp stove and propane for it. I also fill up the gas tank when a storm even hints at coming this way. Because of all that I haven't been caught in any more last minute rushes and don't get caught unable to get any necessities. It was worth it after Ian gave us a direct hit. I hope no one else get hit this year and that the rest remain fish storms.

Lester, I haven't watched the whole video yet, but I just wanted to say there is nothing wrong with a sense of Humor at a time like a Hurricane. When IVAN came through the Ohio Valley and stalled in 2004, it dumped 9.5" of rain in 3 hrs. Approx 12- 15 ft wall of water down Little Wheeling Creek. Wash away a lg section of road going west on old US 40 had a mud slide and it was flooding Going East, we couldn't get out. 😂We had 5.5ft of water in our basement and lost a truck. We were luckier that alot of ppl. We were in shock. We learned when tragedy strikes you need that Sense of Humor to get you through. Prayers to all who were in Buryl's path. ❤️🙏 So sorry about Steph and Buddy's. Love to all the Morrows.

I have been thru many hurricanes here in Florida, & one in The Woodlands TX. We had a Cat 4 hurricane hit in FLearly 2000's ,we were 6 mi from the coast, some neighbors had damage to their houses but we didn't but lost power when the outer bands started hitting, every tree on the golf course fell down & trees next to it went thru houses, grass from the Everglades was plastered on all of the windows & the pavers on the patio, I had to scrape it off . We didn't have power for 2 weeks, which means, no traffic lights, no stores could open, & no power to pump gas. We just got everything cleaned up & another Hurricane hit 3 weeks later! It was bad but not as bad as the previous, but had to clean all over, another 2 weeks without power. Grocery stores here now have generators so all of the food doesn't spoil. The first was Francis & the second was Jean. Your RV did good thru the winds this time. I hope you don't have any more hurricanes though. I have heard the wind sound like someone moaning during a hurricane, it's eerie.

What you went through reminds me of a time when I was about 5 years old. My brother and I were in my maternal grandparents trailer ( back then an RV was 1 that you could drive without a separate vehicle) it had really rained the night before, and my grandfather ( PapPap as we called him) forgot to roll the awning in. The next morning as I was going to the bathroom, the awning rips with a crash! And pre - Urkel I say " Did I do that!" 😂 It was also still a bit rainy and windy. Meanwhile, my parents were sleeping on the back of my dad's green Dodge truck ( I believe it was a ' 77 model) and as they were hastily getting dressed, my dad wacks his head on the little camping lantern that was hanging from the inside cab area 😂 Needless to say, in a way I understand what you went through. And some good news: I saw an article that some power line men/women from Louisiana are on their way to help get power restored 👍 😊! Hopefully more should follow! So thankful that that beast is out of your hair 🙏 Never forget that y'all are #MorrowStrong and you guys have an army of supporters behind you 💜 Take care, stay cool and safe & love y'all 💜 Have a gr-8 night 🌙!

When you said you were going to go through the storm in the RV, I couldn't understand it. I have been in or near several hurricanes, and the tornadoes inside of the hurricane is one of the dangers. Glad you made it through. I saw Hurricane Michael damage (a cat 5) a hundred miles inland. It looked like a tornado about thirty miles wide just made a path through the forest. Giant trees just mowed down.

Hello Lester, You can by block or plastic triangles that you can put under the tires so your rv or trailer. You can get them at any RV, or trailer supplier, or on line.

Once you get a cover over your 5th wheel, you’ll be safer! Also it will save your RV from being pelted with hail and heavy rain’. I’m glad you both are safe!

Went 7 days without power when I lived in England when an unexpected gale force storm hit. That's a hurricane to us in America. Bad forecast left people unprepared. We went from showers to holy crap batten down the hatches. Way before the internet or smart phones. Back when you only had your news and weather forecasting done on TV. Fortunately I had just gone shopping. And we had an excellent refrigerator and freezer. Of course didn't access it very much. Most roads were closed for many days due to the trees from our local forests being impacted by the high winds. My then wife was working temporarily in Italy and I was home alone with our 3 year old son.

RVs stabilizing jacks, wheel chocks, tire cradles, or even mobile home anchors. Some RVs have built-in stabilizing jacks that can be deployed in high-winds. From: How to Anchor an RV in High Winds | Cruise America

You know what may be a good idea to keep insof trailer and hay dry from this point on would be place Velcro strips to the trailer and pieces of a thick tarp and cover open areas to keep rain out. You can remove the tarp when using to haul animals.

You could probably make up some kind of strap system anchored to the slab. Sending prayers for you guys and your animals from Nebraska
