I understand your point about it being scary and I largely agree. To me it was eerie and unsettling for sure but the casual movie watcher hears “the scariest movie of the decade” and they would be expecting something very different. I think the movie was great and did not need gimmicky and disingenuous headlines.

I was seriously f-ing freaked out by this movie. That opening scene with Longlegs scared the sh’t outta me, and that was the only jumpscare of the film i think. The rest of it was masterful build up with sounds. They made sure you heard every creak. I get why some people say it wasn’t scary. It isn’t Japanese original version Ringu or Ju-on scary, this one was psychologically deeply disturbing, unnerving and scary as hell

But being unsettling is scary such a weird argument saying something's not scary because it's not boo scary it's a different kind of scary but it's still scary you can go to a haunted house and it can be scary but seeing the strange man from across the street staring at you from a window is also scary but they're very different and how it makes you feel this one's trying to go a bit more that route. It's absolutely still scary maybe just not in the way you expected

I think you’re spot on about the ending. I got the same vibe. But the one thing that really threw me off was how Lee ran out of bullets when trying to shoot the final doll. It felt so significant. By not shooting the doll was that just a set up for a potential sequel. What happens when the dolls are destroyed vs. not destroyed? That’s the confusion on my part. When Lees doll was shot all it seemed to do was knock her unconscious for a bit.

In regard to Lee's psychic powers- when her mother shoots the doll that looks like Lee, black smoke is seen coming out of the silver ball in the doll's head. Before Lee faints, black smoke is coming out of the back of her head. To me, this was her seemingly losing her psychic powers and connection to Longlegs. I think at the end, when she attempts to shoot Ruby's doll and runs out of bullets, I think she hesitates. I feel that she hesitates for a moment because she had such a deeply personal connection to Longlegs. She was the second survivor of his killings, with the first residing in a facility in a dormant state. Lee is like an exception- with her mother doing the physical killing in order to keep her alive. The other twist is also that he lived in her mom's basement. So while her memory is implied to be wiped, I think she still feels his presence despite that. I think her connection to him almost surpasses the power of whatever lives inside the silver spheres.

No, the anger would come at leaving a rude comment and thinking any opinion is higher than another. But you totally wouldn’t do that to a movie you didn’t love and you’d probably want to engage with that person rather than leave slick comments, at least one would hope? 🤭

Lee was not possessed, but she will have to take over. Longlegs is dead because she caught him, she killed her mom and she stopped the last murder, she has no other option, specially if she wants to keep that girl alive. And with time she will turn to worship the devil, just like her mom

No. Her mom destroys the ball where Satan lives in Lee’s doll. Lee would not be the one. It would be Carters daughter because as long as that dolls devil ball is intact she is connected. But without that it doesn’t seem to connect them. And honestly who was the person who called Lee on the phone and told her that she was late for the party? Unless now that Longlegs is dead he is literally “everywhere”. I am disappointed with the level of explanation for the supernatural from the writers.
@StuntmanDanHemi
@StuntmanDanHemi 17 күн бұрын
@@thedoorstosuccess2230 you literally just confirmed what I said... carter's daughter is gona grow up not entirely there because the doll is still intact, just like lee, so now Lee is gona have to be the nun and deliver the dolls to keep that girl alive. Oh and the one who called was the devil himself, you can even see his shadow following lee when she walks into Carter's house, because the devil wanted to set up Lee to take over and be the next Nun, her mom's time was done, she was getting old and to be fair she did tell lee about the "stuff" she never threw away, like Longlegs is dead because the mom had a big mouth, so the devil sent lee to Carter's house to witness AND get rid of her mom too, Lee is next in line to serve. Honestly it is as simple as it seems, but for some reason people have an issue suspending disbelief that much, i mean i kinda get it, the movie was pretty grounded until the 3rd act, but all the early marketing focused on supernatural shit, I definitely was expecting some real satanic shit to happen at the end, but i guess most people weren't

Spoilers? The second the agents pulled up into the neighborhood at the beginning I knew homie was a dead man. This movie was extremely predictable, and worse: it actively gave its "secrets" away at each and every earliest opportunity which removed all suspense, or interest for that matter. The psychic schtick lasted exactly as long as the scenes it was introduced in, and was then almost completely ignored. The characters all seemed to be on the same quirkily overdramatic wavelength which made all the performances kind of blend together. The exceptions were the Detective Supervisor Man who was completely boilerplate, and NicC who was as ridiculous as his costume. When they ultrasounded the doll brain or whatever was a real eye roller too. I give it a 3.2/10 and a Hail Satan for the artsy cinematography and a couple of subtle, fleeting images. Save it for a cold and dreary night at home maybe? Or not.

Okay the people who are saying this movie was bad are being dramatic. These are probably the same people who like the Avengers or Dune… which says a lot. This movie didn’t live up to the “scariest movie of the decade” but it definitely lives up to the most unsettling, fear inducing film in a long time. I see people saying “there wasn’t enough satanic stuff” but that actually works for this movie. If they had a scene showing Longlegs doing satanic rituals, it would’ve killed the vibe. 9/10 in my opinion. Taking into consideration all the garbage horror we’ve seen lately.

Saw this last night and it was garbage. I was so excited to see it, and so let down, even halfway through, this movie dragged harder than my dog across fresh carpet. Everyone else in the theater was also clearly disappointed. It closed out poorly, the construct and premise of the movie was so weak and hollow. Cage has little screen time, at first the character presentation is great, but it wears thin quickly, especially when the dialogue escalates.
