I played this shortly after one of the worst GameCube games ever, Batman: Dark Tomorrow. This game had far far more positive reviews.. but clearly that shows these ratings and reviews are not to be trusted. This Superman game is bad, although not so bad as the Nintendo 64, it's still bad. The graphics aren't very good and the combat system is boring. The levels are a bit varied. Levels such as saving civilians, beating up a bunch of enemies and even some stealth missions. Fortunately the stealth is pretty easy and nothing to get frustrated over. Anyways, it's mostly beat 'em up which is why it's such a bummer that the combat system is so boring. At the end of the game the missions just kinda stop and all you're left to do with is a bunch of bosses. Worth playing? Not really, but it's Superman tho!

Well, it's better than 64, that's for sure. Personally I'd replace Soupy's flight ability with a large height jump ability so that there could be more 3D platformer oriented gameplay. Now that I think about it, didn't Soups have a jumping ability until it got retconned to be a flight ability?

Jesse King I agree, they definitely could’ve added some more platforming orientated levels in this game. You can’t fly during the stealth missions but there’s no platforming there

@@longplayarchive yeah, I thought the stealth segments as Clark were interesting, trying to do all the abilities Soups has while keeping a low civilian profile. And now I think I remember that it was the Fleischer cartoons that did the whole flight thing. Crazy how different mediums tell different versions of the same characters, huh?

Another employee suggested covering less square inch of the game with kryptonite gas to justify why superman was so weak. We have not heard any further information on his current location.

To be fair, the 'fly through rings' (well, Superman logos) and 'kryptonite fog' options are both there on the Gamecube version, just hidden behind cheat codes ... because DC really didn't want us to put them in there.

I spent hours playing this game along with Spiderman 2 on the PS2. I loved both for their open world and being able to just roam the cities and save citizens.

This game gives the blueprint of how to make a good Superman game for us starving Superman fans.... it doesnt have to be Rocksteady levels of detail and graphics... just make the game fun, dont worry about how daunting supermans strength can be. It can literally be this cartoony take of the animated series... Superman fans just want their favorite character to be represented properly.

Thank you...my goodness am I glad someone has an imagination, because so many people say a good Superman game can't be done and it's just not true. We've seen bits, and pieces of greatness with all of his games...all anyone needs to do is play them, and take the best parts from what's already been done.

The nostalgia bro 😭 I literally remember playing this when i was 3 on the Original Xbox, I remember the good times, trying to stop the train and struggling so much to use supermans abilities and get through the missions, especially the officer down mission. jesus i miss these times I thought I would never find this game 😞

Fuckin love this superman game. So accurate to the animated series, has all his powers maybe except super speed running? Technically? Wish there was something more to for open world and side missions because it seems as if they totally couldve done it! Overall not an amazing game definitely a preference one, but in comparison to the other superman games... pretty awesome.

If i remember correctly you could run super fast I remember you could drop down from flying and just run along the street and outrun cars I recall this game being really fun the best Superman game we've had to date until Rocksteady finally decides to give us what we want lmao

I never thought I would say this. Usually I never complain about bad graphics, but dear lord, this has got to be the worst I have ever seen from a PlayStation 2 & GameCube game. Who said this game looked good in 2002? And I thought Spider-Man 2 looked bad but this takes the cake, by far. Seriously, my eyes hurt each time I look at this game.

I think that's more to do with the in motion animations themselves than the actual aesthetic. He does look kinda jittery everytime he moves around, I have to admit. I imagine that if someone with more capability could make things look more fluid......and maybe have him pick up and slam some of those tanks Ultimate Destruction style

That's the problem with Superman, the comics have made him essentially into a God, thus most enemies have no chance against him. I think these games that make him weaker are more like the first comics, and the old TV series both animated and live action. I used to watch the TV series with George Reeves.

@Oldschool1943 yeah. I see the flaws in this, but this could be a good base towards something better, but the Rocksteady of today is most definitely NOT the Rocksteady that made the Arkham games. I don't even like Batman as a character and I know how good those games are. Maybe someday.....maybe someday.

The guy says the game reviews are not to be trusted I say it depends you got to look at the game through the lenses of the time it came out at. The flying was mind blowing back then nowadays you see way more impressive stuff but maybe back then people did think this game was peak a lot of older games aren’t going to have fully fleshed out combat / power system for multiple play through as games were more simplistic back then and I kinda miss that

I really enjoyed the intro to this game but I couldn’t get past the the Dam level. I pressed X button like crazy but it didn’t work. Eventually I just gave up and I sold the game.
