I like Leo a lot but I feel he's becoming increasingly jaded. Maybe I feel that way because we're the same age 67. I'm glad Lon is much younger.

I really like that Belkin dock, however for $140 I would have like more than one USB C port. I think I'll wait for the next version to see if they add more ports.

Lon, do you have different/better recommendation for nice quality digitizing of audio tapes, without too much hassle? In the past I use a boom box, headphone/line-out to a PC Mic-In and something like Audacity. But that took forever. Plus a lot of newer laptop have some combo headphone ports that are tricky to get Left/Right channel TRS plug to properly output.
@LonSeidman
@LonSeidman 6 ай бұрын
That’s probably your best bet.. I remember my old boom box had a fast duping feature that would play and record at 2x speed but don’t know of anything that does that for digitizing
@brightboxstudio

For maximum quality, you might try using a USB audio interface, which means you don’t have to worry about how to connect analog audio to the computer: 1. If you want better sound than a boom box, start with a high quality cassette deck. Nice old decks might be cheap at thrift stores. 2. Get a high quality USB audio interface, which converts analog audio to digital. There are cheap ones, and there are clean high quality ones that the pros use, buy based on needs and budget. 3. Using analog cables, plug the cassette deck line out into the USB audio interface. This will be easiest if the USB audio interface has RCA/phono type input jacks like the deck does, because it will be higher quality than a 1/8” headphone jack and you won’t have to worry about TRS. 4. Connect the USB audio interface into the computer. This is how Lon connected the Reshow player into the computer using a USB-C cable, because the Reshow has a built-in analog to digital audio converter chip connected to its USB-C port. 5. Use Audacity or any audio recording software that can digitize audio coming in from a USB audio device. USB audio device support is standard on Windows and macOS. You can also shop for devices similar to the Reshow that might be higher quality. Some sell full cassette decks with the USB audio interface built in, so that your only step is to plug it into the computer using a USB cable like Lon did. Some have features like faster-than-1x playback so that it takes less time to transfer each tape; the final file can be slowed to normal speed in the computer software.

Has anyone used the Momax Rechargeable Bluetooth Tracker with ESPresense?

I rather wait for fiio to release the fiio cp13 portable cassette player whenever it comes out since the newer cassette players are low quality and fiio is known for audio while having quality components. The fiio portable cassette player relys on using wired headphones since there is no bluetooth connection. I wish the fiio portable cassette player was like the older sony portable cassette players that has both an internal battery and external battery. For example, some of the sony casette players would still play cassette tapes from the internal battery as long as the battery has some capacity to hold a charge while the external batteries would be charged from a removable battery to extended the play back of the cassette player. Basically the sony cassette player would play cassette tapes from the built in battery while the external rechargeable batteries are charging. You would have as much as battery as possible because of having 2 sources of batteries. Nowadays, you have to wait for the devices to be charged to have extended playback or plug in a power bank. The older tech devices did not rely on using power banks because they had multiple ways of using the devices without needing to wait for the batteries to be charged as long as the devices support removable batteries that you can use rechargeable batteries instead of the non rechargeable batteries. It also helped that the older tech has better battery life so you can go on doing whatever you might be doing instead of waiting for the batteries to be charged compared to modern tech. With modern tech, we are always waiting for something to be done charging even though there is already fast charging. I just want to be able to use my gadgets as much as possible with as little charging as possible but it's not possible with the modern tech because they consume so much battery. It's worse when the modern tech has to be thrown away when the batteries are non user replaceable because the batteries have already degraded. You can't just buy a replaceable battery or go to a repair shop and get the gadgets fix because trying to get the gadgets fixed at the repair shops because they no longer offer services to extend the lifespan of certain devices when certain common components fail like the battery and than we are stuck with buying new stuff that does not last as long as the older products that are no longer be made and sold. I have a mixture of old products and new products. I prefer the reliability of older products compared to the newer products since they last way longer than there newer counter parts and most of stuff has to be bought online since the brick and mortar stores don't have much of a selection when buying stuff for products that someone has whether there stuff is old or new or a mixture of both new and old stuff.
