Ben Scanlan the whole concept of one player carrying a team is so overblown. These days most players are good and at least contribute to wins. Acting like one guy wins it all is just media sensationalising so they can sell a jersey and market someone.

I've watched every single Laker game because I really want to see Lonzo succeed. But I do have to say he looks like he's playing scared. A lot of pressure on the kid though, hard to believe he's only 19-20 years old. That being said he's gotta get some fire in his stride or else he will end up being a bench player.

Heizman he's game is improving game by game... I'm not impressed with his career night in phoenix... Suns just makes him look great that game.... but the most important thing is he's slowly picking it up...look at his game against the Wizards today... he's getting the rhythm... now talkung bout his form.. not concerned at all... he'll find his shooting touch soon

The Celtics have a fine bench. They're problem is injuries, not bench depth. Morris or Baynes, and Tatum would all be on the bench if Horford and Gordon were healthy. And even so, our two best players in last nights game were rotation pieces. Baynes and Smart. Rozier is really good too.

I agree, he knows more about lonzos brother than he does the celtics, the celtics bench is the best its been in a long time if the team is healthy including gordon, even with the rookies, they play hard and you never know whos gunna hurt you on either end of the floor.
@MikeM-np4od
@MikeM-np4od 6 жыл бұрын
Smart comment. Most likely Morris would be the #1 scorer off the bench, with Baynes, Smart, Rozier, Ojeleve. That is not Golden State, but it is better than 90% of the rest of the NBA's benches. Plus fully healthy you could always sprinkle in a little Kyrie or Hayward with the 2nd unit.

Every time I want to criticize Lonzo I always remember, the kid is YOUNGER THAN ME. Even with the talent he's shown, my god as of now, being about the same age (like 8 months older) I wouldn't know what I would do under this kind of pressure. Judge him all you want but try and remember, at the end of the day, he's still just a kid.

Britt T you do realize every NBA players is paid millions but not every NBA player is an all star. U make no sense he's a rookie he's contract was made for him he hasn't discussed money or made a deal because he can't money has nothing to do with this. That's like saying if the more you pay a player the better he gets. I don't get why your so caught up in money it just makes you sound jealous. Try being happy for people's success for once.

I don't like Stephen A. Smith, but he is right... Lonzo is not looking good, and it's more than just his stats. For a point guard that's supposed to invigorate his team, his play is too passive. People are going to come at him because of his loudmouth father, but he has to at least show more aggression in his playstyle.

You can't call Lonzo a bust yet, but you can definitely say he's AWFUL right now. His age doesn't negate how bad he's been doing. He can't shoot, he can't drive, can't hit free throws. Those are legitimate flaws that don't change overnight. He shot 4/15 last night FFS. ESPN needs to stop hyping this kid, at least do it when he starts hooping.

Kyrie's numbers are almost identical to Kemba's this season. Kyrie has the edge on steals, but everything else is a wash. Yeah, Kyrie's team has a much better record, but he's got twice as much help as Kemba has. So I agree, saying his numbers are Harden and Westbrook numbers isn't accurate.

Im tired of all the people saying that Lonzo is trash even though we're not even a quarter into the season.Imagine if you were 19 years old,you're in your rookie year, and people are already expecting you to play like you're already an all-star because you're the 2nd pick.Thats a lot of pressure so give Lonzo at least two or three years because rn the Lakers are very young and have lots to learn.So please,just be careful about what you say about a young rookie that hasn't even played 20 games yet.Thank you for reading.

No people are reacting because of how bad of a shooter he is (under 30% fg and shooting 50% from ft) and yet he is averaging 12 shots a game, while the rest of his team all shoot better than him but some shoot less than he does (for example Clarkson is shooting over 50%, but only averages 11 shots per game). Now imagine if he got to take 12 more shots instead of lonzo taking any. 6 rebounds don't really indicate any skill set as a pg these days - most of the time in the nba now, the other team is already up the court once they realize it's not going in anyway, so it's free boards for whoever wants it (which is usually the pg so they can start the offense). And 6 assists as a pg isn't anything great either, especially considering how well the other guys on the team have been playing this year (Lopez 16 ppg on 45%, Ingram 15 ppg on 46%, Kuzma 15 ppg on 52%, etc). 6 assists in 33 mpg isn't that much when your team is averaging 105 ppg. And he has the lowest PER of any player on the lakers who is averaging more than 13 minutes per game. So yeah, ppl are reacting because he is playing more minutes than anyone on the lakers, but he's arguably their worst player who gets regular playing time.. and he's arguably the worst rookie out of all the ones SAS mentioned, but he's averaging more mpg than all of them except simmons.
@simplegpp2642
@simplegpp2642 6 жыл бұрын
eazi cash well all those guys you named were lower picks that came off the bench and had less expectations early on. I think the thing youre missing is that the lakers literally re created their whole team/structure to fit lonzo's play style. Trading D'Lo was a big deal. The expectation was that this year the lakers would get around 10 more wins maybe, and Lonzo would look good enough to draw in those big name free agents. Thats why he looks like a bust and in that regard, it is true. Once he stats playing harder, leading more & creates a rhythm for the whole offense. The team will become more appealing, and his numbers will become better etc.

I'm conflicted on Lonzo... I believe he has the potential to be an all star and be one of the main guys on the team but I don't think he can be THE guy on the team. I think he'd be a great role player like JR. I feel he can be like a second tier star such as Klay is to Steph and KD. Again I just don't think he can be the central guy because all the attention is trained on him and he is crumbling. For that I feel is the reason why Kuzma is impressing the public more than Lonzo because he doesn't have the weight of the media and fans on his shoulders. Lonzo needs to learn to find the aspect of his game that fits him best because he was able to do everything in high school. In college he was facing a lot of non NBA talent and many of the ones that did give him a bit of trouble didn't even get drafted. He's in the NBA against experienced veterans that have been in the league longer than 4 years which he isn't used to. He's used to being the one in control of the floor but now he's getting a rude awakening to the fact that he can't be the star anymore. I wish him all the success and best but he's not in high school anymore. He was hyped up by his father, the media, and the public but they have to realize he is human too and not treat him like the second coming of Christ. This is probably the only time I will semi-agree with Stephen because as it's looking right now, he is working towards being a bust and needs to change that before it is too late.

Again I don't disagree that the Celtics are very good right now and Kyrie is also but his individual season isn't really much to talk about I would say what it proves to me is that Stevens is by far the best coach in the eastern conference, as I've felt he was for the past 2 years

JJ Edwards Jason Kidd!!! He was terrible when he was a rookie and ended his career as a star! Your expectations are high, he’s only a rookie. Simmons was a nobody last year, this year he’s a threat! Lonzos shot will come. He’s doing amazing things already by passing and running the floor. You’re expecting I’m to get 20+ a game! I do t think most rookies were that good when they first started!

Lonzo's averaging above 8-6-6. Only other rookies to do that are Ben Simmons, MCW, Magic and Oscar Robertson. He's averaging over 6.9 assists on only 2.5 TOs. The only other 20 yo to do that was Chris Paul. He's 3rd among rookies in both Defensive Win Shares, Defensive Box Plus Minus, and Defensive Points Saved. He's 3rd among guards in the entire league in rebounds, far ahead of any other rookie guard. He's averaging more points, assists, rebounds and steals than Jason Kidd was through the first 12 games of his career, despite being almost 2 years younger than rookie Kidd was, and with 2 fewer years of college experience. He's literally doing everything well outside of scoring. He's already one of the most efficient passers in the league, a net-positive defender (very rare for rookie PGs, especially those drafted for their offense) and a great rebounder for his position. He'll be FINE.

Damn through the years of me being a super casual fan of the show, his right have tremendously outweighed his wrong calls. Let's give SAS some credit here, just because he was wrong about KP (like the rest of us because there was nothing on the dude) and might be on Lonzo doesn't discredit his great career as an analyst. And that meme on KZfaq needs context lol, Ray Allen saved LeBron's legacy back in those finals.

"The Lakers were able to stay in the game mostly against the second unit " so Max you wanted the Celtics bench to run the score up on the Lakers, there you've lost me. Irving and Brown played 2/3 of a game, Baines and Morris played half a game, Tatum played less than a quarter and Horford did not play. Lakers played Celtics bench for half the game and lost by 11.

So if the have is based on inconsistency. Why are we hating a rookie who is currently ranked 5 overall in total assists. Isn't that consistent with what he was known for? Passing? Harden, Westbrook, LeBron, Wall, then Lonzo at 5 in the NBA of all players.
