Some videoclips of the pilot boats in Vlissingen.
These pilot boats will bring the pilots to the merchant ships helping them pass through the Westerschelde safely and smoothly. The Westerschelde connects the ports of Antwerp, Vlissingen, Ghent and Terneuzen with the North Sea.

Vlissingen, known as Flushing in old-English: the gateway to the Netherlands in medieval times. And in those days, King’s Lynn was the greatest port in England, and the Hanseatic League was the great trading network

One is a nice place where you can watch the pilot boats that are constantly sailing in and out. Lots of action.

from a old commercial fisherman in the US, very slick with the two boats. bow thrusters make everyone look good, but these skippers are very good.

these boats aint got bow thrusters, they use water jets, this means you can go abeam without any bowthruster.

No bow thrusters on these, water jets with differential thrust and a lot of practice :)

Als Kind durfte ich einmal abends im Dunkeln mit einem dieser Boote mitfahren. Es war ein Erlebnis. Wir haben einfach gefragt und sie haben uns mit 6 Personen mitgenommen. Unterwegs wurde uns alles erklärt, die Arbeit und das Schiff. Ob das heute noch möglich wäre?

Sweet handling....although to be fair these are presumably equipped with pretty powerful bow and stern thrusters, but enjoyable to watch nonetheless!

nope no bow or stern trusters the red boats hav twin propellors and the yellow ones are jet propulsion

Propulsion is (x2) Caterpillar 3412 (950 hp) coupled to Hamilton 571 waterjet.
