A good rule of thumb that I made up is that if I’m wearing something low cut/showing a lot of skin on my top half, then I should wear something like jeans to cover my lower half. If I’m wearing a shorter skirt or shorts, I often opt to wear a less revealing top. It keeps my outfits from looking too frumpy and covered up, but also classy and not showing too much skin!

@pmm7095
@pmm7095 3 жыл бұрын
jmm_2104 yes, it’s balance. I have basic rules I follow also. I really stay with a neutral color palette and a soft tailored active wear look. Like white or khaki cargo pants with a sleeveless black turtle neck and soft low bun in hair. I stay with v neck three quarter length sleeves as a staple in light weight sweaters or t-shirts always mid hip length. Basically mix and match a small wardrobe. I’m glad to see Angie talk about proportion in style. Nobody mentions this anymore. This was an excellent video on everyday makeup and clothing.

The rule in our house is "1 asset at a time"... this goes for EVERYONE in the house! Even my teenager, shopping for Prom/Homecoming. To me, this is classy. Any more is trashy & advertising.

My best strategy for looking younger was wearing a brim whenever I went into the sun for most of my adult life since I was 30. My light skin looks great at 68, no "fixes." Also, I used Alexander Technique for retaining my height and not getting bent over as I age. I figure this strategy should work until my 80s, LOL My other strategy was to relocate to a different subculture. For instance, in Hawaii, the Asian-dominant culture offers you respect as you age, instead of treating you like you don't exist. Where I live, if you DON'T wear some sort of makeup, other women treat you as arrogant, or that you have no respect for yourself, (although men don't seem to care.) Where I live, long hair for older women is in style. But since the weather is hot, almost every woman wears their long hair up off their neck.

I am a huge fan of yours and an eyeglass wearer for most of my life. One of my pet peeves is makeovers that show glam without eyeglasses ... not all of us can wear contacts .... so glam with glasses would be appreciated. My other pet peeve is makeovers that takes someone’s naturally curly hair and blow it out for the glam ‘after.’ Curls can be glam too. Regardless, keep up the fantastic tutorials, they are appreciated.

Agree. I cannot be bothered with contact lenses. Glasses all the way for me. If "they" don't like 'em, sod 'em. When I was young, sometimes men would say "You look so much better without glasses" (aren't they so helpful?). That made me so bloody angry. I should be blind so as to be more decorative for them? Twats.

I do have contacts but can only wear them for short amounts of time before my eyes get irritated. I think the most important thing about looking stylish (and younger) while wearing glasses is to make sure the glasses suit your face AND to update your frames regularly. Eyewear trends change just like all fashion and if you are wearing frames that are a decade old, it can age you. There are so many online options that are super inexpensive now too that having a couple different frames is fun and a great way to express yourself.

Angie, could you do a video on the emotional aspects of aging and how people judge us when we put in efforts to fight it? I'm always reminded that "there are more important things in the world" , as though I'm shallow for caring about my changing looks. Why is aging so hard to accept and why is our non-acceptance hard for others to accept? Maria

I regard it as just being my best self, at whatever age I am, and that includes health and appearance. I had an acquaintance judge me for using Botox- I found her judgmental attitude just... ridiculous , but I can’t change it so when I run into her, I just don’t talk about my skincare treatments (and I just ignore the 100 wrinkles on her forehead).

Hi Angie, have you ever tried Jane Iredale? I’ve been using the Pressed Mineral foundation for years. I recently tried their liquid matte foundation which is a nice satiny finish, and I like it as well. But their powders are my go to. Buildable coverage that never sinks into my lines and has SPF for added coverage. I’m over 50 so I have a few but always get compliments on my skin. I did pick up the IT powder for under eyes and love it!!

ME! I have what I call vanity plates that I wear for special occasions - can’t see close up, but no glasses. Oh how I wish I could still wear contacts. I’ve tried every combination of distance vs reading but after about 50 NOTHING has worked and my eyes have gotten SO dry even with hourly moisture drops that I have a terrible time getting lenses peeled off my eyeballs. So, I have learned that multiple pairs of glasses to switch out with outfits and, yes, prescription sunglasses are a must. Angie, you are VERY LUCKY to still have lenses as a viable option.

One of the best ways I've been staving off the depression during lockdowns is to get up each morning, get fully dressed, put on sunscreen & mascara, put my shoes & socks on, and keep my car keys in my pocket. That way I feel fully dressed, ready for any visitors that might stop by, or last minute Zoom call w friends. And I'm able to leave the house in a hurry should anything come up. Keeping my shoes on all day means I take less naps & get more done, and that makes me feel better about life.

Hi Angie- Just wanted to tell you that I think this is a great video idea! Very original & creative! and it's really nice to see people being REAL! Not everyone would be open enough to post how they look when they wake up in the morning! (probably myself included if I did youtube) It's so easy to only see everyone's best sides that they show the world on social media, and then feel bad about yourself that your "real life" doesn't match the best edited & highlight reel version of others... so I really appreciate you being so real! It's very refreshing, and I really appreciate it and admire you all the more for it! And I think the glasses look cute on you! :)

Hi, you’ve probably tried this but just thought it may help someone. I have very dry eyes too and I use disposable daily lenses. They are much thinner than regular ones and have a higher water %, I’ve never struggled with these unlike regular lenses. I still love glasses too though so a video on that would be great as well!

But... are you comfortable in how you dress and appear to yourself? Who cares what others think? If you are okay with your looks don’t change them to “keep up with the Jones’”- own your look and wear it! I don’t put a face on for others to see.. I put it on for myself and my own happiness.. for all I know others think I look ridiculous .. I like it so ... why should I care what others think? It’s not like I am scaring little children and dogs! Lol!

Loving your videos, so helpful! I had a foundation question- I know you review a lot of foundations on Fridays, but I am trying to find a recommendation for acne prone skin that also helps combat aging? I'm in my thirties and have been using Bare Minerals for years but am now noticing that it doesn't seem to enhance my skin in any way and also doesn't wear well throughout the day. Just nervous to make a switch since in the past I tend to have breakouts with new makeups? Any tips of do you have a video that discusses this? Thanks so much and keep up the amazing work!!

Hi 🍑 I’m a master esthetician with over thirty years of practical knowledge with skin and skin care products. I’m 54 and I don’t do anything invasive to my skin and I don’t even wear foundation or concealers. I have no wrinkles and practice what I preach by teaching beauty naturally. Just a bit of background to my response. Please know you can look beautiful naturally without doing, laser or Botox & fillers. Angie is a beautiful lady, but in general those invasive procedures actually make women look older. Trust me... I have taken care of hundreds of thousands of clients. Natural takes time, but it works if your patient. With absolute respect to Angie, I would love to invite you to take a peek at my channel and see if anything resonates. 🍑Lisa Peaches Skin Care

Retinol is something anyone can do. There are lots of "starter" retinol products, if you never used a vitamin A product you want a starter product! It won't make you look 10 years younger in 10 minutes, but if you want the results you have to start sometime! Angie used botox and laser mostly to un-do years of sun damage. If you don't have the sun damage, you won't need the treatments. Use that sunscreen, wear a hat, and on high UV index days, avoid the sun. I'm 63, and roll out of bed most mornings looking a little better than Angie's "before". No botox, no laser, no nothing but non-prescription skin care. I try to dress well, even in lockdown. I'm not perfect, my hair needs help badly ... I don't mind my gray, except it's a different texture than my non-gray hair.

I am fair to light so I don’t think it will work for me but I’ve been using the Missha Perfect Cover in the shade 21. It’s light, has sunscreen and works well for my dry skin.
