The sentries at Buckingham Palace are highly efficient soldiers.

Only a film I appreciate but it does reflect an era when most people of all nationalities would be respectful of the Household troops on guard duty at the Royal palaces. Compare them to the current generation of bad mannered, attention seeking, disrespectful yobs of the "selfie" generation.

I learnt recently from Guards tiktok that the Grenadier Guards never say the command "arms" in their words of command. Never noticed until you hear what isn't said. Customs and Traditions, love it.

I remember in the TA being told off by a corporal, a former Grenadier for leaning my SLR against a wall. He was a joker, and I thought he was having a laugh. He wasn't. It made sense though, that it might fall over and go off. So I Thought it was a cardinal sin.

Trains in SLR drill but does ceremonial work 303?
@pjclark86243 жыл бұрын
Same happened back in the 80's when SLR was phased out. Drill with the SA80 didn't please the top brass initially.

I found their lads to be sound, but their SNCOs were so far up themselves it was beyond belief. Their officers were either outstanding or utterly dreadful, no middle ground. I wouldn't rush to work with any of them again.

Should bring back National Serivce. At least there would be some respect from todays youngsters. But, it wouldnt happen, incase it upsets them, as the drill instructor, would be shouting at them.........
