We purchase new in 1979. It virtually looks like yours. I had a great deal of issues but the lean burn system. The car was very luxurious and very stately for the times. We kept the car for only a year and traded it in.

You remind me of Bobby from the Sopranos the way you confidently describe the car in it’s true fashion and no bs about it. Thanks for sharing man you got a nice speaking voice. God Bless.

Always admired the blonde wood appliqué they used in the cream colored interiors.

It's literally based on the 75-79 Chrysler Cordoba coupe. They stretched the wheelbase from 115 to 118 inches, squared off the body and put in a new interior.

I sold airline tickets out of the newspaper in the want ads and traded a guy a one-way ticket from Seattle to JFK for one of these. It was a comfortable car and reliable, if I remember correctly. It wouldn't start at the airport one day, so I took the plates off and left it in long-term parking. It was there for months!

R Bodies are so underrated and underappreciated. It's a real shame that Chrysler dropped the 5.9 early, and a shame these cars were canceled after only three years. The M body was nice but was never as smooth and graceful as the larger R Body cars, which I think were really well proportioned and handsome cars.
@xxtaas7776 ай бұрын
It really is an underappreciated model, however it's the question of understanding how to maintain or deal with the Lean Burn System.
@harryrez6 ай бұрын
Exactly, I just sold an M body and as decent as it was not even close to the R. The ride and comfort level is night and day between the 2

@@harryrez Do you think that the lean burn system is more easier with 80-81 models compared to 79'?

Wow, brings back memories when I was a kid😂, it still sounds the same bad workmanship hard to start hasn’t lost a beat from the 1978 model year😹

Really great looking car. I always liked the R body platform despite Chrysler’s quality control during the late 70s. The New Yorker was my favorite but the Magnum was very nice as well. I know it’s been 5 months or so since this video came out but I’ve got to ask: Is this New Yorker still for sale?

I really like this generation. Too bad it was so short lived.

To me that doesn't look like a New Yorker that I remember because growing up as a kid in the late 70s 80s My mom had a black 76 New Yorker Brougham black my dad had a 78 New Yorker Brougham whitesh gray with a red Pinstripe. Big land yachts. The one your selling kinda looks like a Caprice or something lol but I know it's a New Yorker lol
