Hi and welcome to the channel, once again another car video!
Today we're looking round my 2007 57reg Honda Civic Type-R in Milano Red.
I was meaning to get this video up a lot sooner but just never got round to it, so here it is!
I've owned the car for a total of 14 months now and its been a pleasure to own, the only thing I will say is that I wish it was equipped with a turbo lol.
These cars seem to have quite a following at the moment being cheap to pick up in today's market.

Early models were recalled for issues with rust under the windscreen rubber and could be sorted under warranty. Later models were replaced with a softer rubber that didn't bite into the paint and didn't suffer from this issue

I used to live over that way, Lambton are, I'm sure the street was call Dunnock Drive! You're talking late 80s, making me feel old haha. 5 years is a long bloody time to keep one! You not fancying a change or you quite happy with it? I like to change my cars often. What colours yours? Yesterday I removed all the back lights to clean the mould out, terrible job but needed doing

If it's the purple blue I love that one as well, I seen a BMW m4 in a similar colour, really rare colour mine and black and the common ones that seem to be all over the place. I did want white but the prices were stupid, after I got home tonight some people are still asking £8500 for them which is just nuts! I kind of rushed this video as I'm wanting to sell it and want something else, think everybodys shocked I've owned it so long, you've been on the channel a good while now and know I like to swap my cars often 😂 Hope you're well and keep safe with Covid 👍

Great review. Forgot to mention that the drivers seat does not go back into its previous position once you've slid it forward. There still quick cars at 6.5 secs to 60 and a top speed of 147. I have a 58 plate gt and I love it, love the shape of the car, still looks fresh all these years later. Going to get it wrapped next year and big brake kit on it. No plans to get rid of it. Love it, there great cars

Jesus that's a long time to keep a car. I had a 52 reg Ep3 around 2006-7 really nice cars and loved the gear knob position, just missed having a turbo

Things to watch for are 2nd gear and the rust on the roof lining, if you seen it in the video. Apart from that touch wood mines gave me no issues in 17 months, going to get it serviced then put it up for sale. When I bought mine the GT were a lot more and didn't really think the dogs and dual climate control was worth it. What colour you gone for red?

Yes sir Milano red! have specified about all the main issues and can confirm it's all good👍 and yeah I've done my homework before thinking getting these motor's like what you said they have there ups and downs! But overall it's a good car and great value for the money✌️mind you this is the last NA Honda ever built after that it's already boosted. look forward pickin up tomorrow😉✌️

Good choice in colour, my favourite apart from the imported Championship white. Not sure how good you are with paint but known a typical honda the paint will be swirled to death, mine was super bad, but get yourself a cheap DA machine polisher and have a go yourself, just take your time. I'm a valeter/detailer so love stuff like making cars look better. Not sure what to buy next, think it'll he a Golf R, I'm just not a fan of NA engines, I love a turbo to much. Let me know how you get on with the car, I'm sure you'll have no issues

I've owned a Milano red fn2 type R for a few months now. GT pack. I personally wouldn't say the rear end is ugly - but it's definitely Marmite. I like it. What I like about the car is the design was way ahead of its time and has a nice modern look even compared to recent models. The seats can scuff or bobble, but I will say this is minor and generally they are super durable and tough seats from my own first impressions. The general build quality and attention to detail was a big step up from the ep3. A type R that can grow with you as it's flexible without losing that type R feel. I love it I gotta say. The main point I will say is the 'ride' if you don't like a firm sporty ride then that's something to consider. The power is a level that is really fun without being monstrous, but for it's time and being N/A it was very good, add to that it has a good rep for durability. It is definitely an amazing engine all of its own character, and 8 thousand rpm straight out of the box. Tbh the car is still plenty of fun outside of v-tec if you don't wanna wring it's neck all the time. I baby mine a little lol. A little touch I like are the cup holders built into the rear sides. Anyway great vid 👍

I just really don't find the rear attractive at all, I love the front end though. Like you say styling it was ahead of it's time, one this I love inside the 'spaceship cockpit' is the kind of heads up view, it's so nice to have your speed in front of you without having to glance down. My seats are in good nick still, I've seen a few wear, sag and as you say bobble, quick fix is using a really shape Stanley blade and gently scraping it across. I've owned mine to long, it was on supposed to be a little tidy up project lol. I'm guessing your enjoying yours? Hows the paint? Mine was swirl marked to death, but luckily machine polished it all up so it's nice and shiny once again

@@CraigsChannel My paint has got zero rust, but the paint is a quite swirly but only shows in certain light. Regardless of the swirls im liking the Milano red mind. Great tip about the Stanley blade thanks and maybe I will get myself a machine to get rid of those swirl marks.

Argos sell a cheap DA polisher, then all you'll need is some backing plates and pads. Meguiars ultimate compound is really good stuff, I'd say around £120 you could get all the gear, but once you get the hang of it other people will want their cars done and you'll be making money

Great review, I've always dismissed the FN2 in favour of the EP3 and I only sold my EP3 last month but would definitely look at one of these now with all the features you get. Agree with you, those small battery boosters are excellent!

Yeah the boosters are amazing, at the time I got it sent out to review I didnt have a battery to jump lol. But when I'm out and about I always seem to bump into somebody with a flat battery and they just think I'm crazy saying this little thing will jump their car 😂 What made you sell the Ep3? I owned one about 13 years ago and honestly loved it, I did mention I'm more a turbo man, but nobody can deny Vtec is fun! I thought the gearbox being so high on the Ep3 would be horrible but it's so nice, the Fn2 box is really nice as well. Only thing I wished they changed on the Fn2 is the rear, it's just not the prettiest thing out there and I hate the bloody spoiler, but I do have side mirrors to use ha. When I put mine up for sale I'm really not sure what to buy next! So much choice

@@CraigsChannel Main reason I sold it really was because it was a bit of a leggy example, 159k miles and I had to replace the clutch as soon as I bought it. It had all of its original suspension so that needed changing too so I just sold it before I lost even more money on it! That and I do tend to change my cars frequently like yourself so was just happy to have owned one. Yeah the gear change is great, you get used to it being in a difference position so quickly. Not a massive fan of the FN2 styling but the interior does look better, I know a lot of people slate it for the suspension changes they made but I doubt you would notice it too much over the EP3 unless you're going crazy in it :P Would definitely like another EP3, a nice clean example this time but it's just finding one for the right money.

@@iDayno that's the thing with cars some are great but others can be money pits, the odd thing braking every other month can sharp mount up. My friend who's CLS63 I did a video on, bought a 06 reg Rangie Sport 4.2 Supercharge and had nothing but issues, first parking sensor, handbrake light, some canister in the engine, air suspension, something to do with the brakes, passenger seat kept saying the seatbelt wasn't plugged in when nobody was sitting in it, kept losing power... to name a few 😂 webuyanycar ended up buying it from him. If you're after another Ep3 I'd get one fast, the prices are slowly going up and up. The Fn2 honestly isn't a bad car, just ugly rear as I keep mentioning. Nice drive on the motorway but rough round the streets. I just need to do a couple of things then get it up for sale

You can put your safetybelt on the top corner of your seat that's what i do than you can grab it much better 👍🏻

Are you short like me as well 😂 I've honestly never had an issue with seat belts, I think it's just with the seats being so bulky, my older Ep3 I'm sure I never had an issue

Mine as an absolute dog when I bought it the paint was in shocking condition due to poor maintenance. With Honda paint it's always soft so turns out amazing after a stage 2 machine polich, meaning compound, then polish, as you can see mine still looked super shinny after 18 months, just keep up on the waxing. The roof have a common issue where they rust just above the window

I drive like Miss Daisy 😄 I'm always getting moaned at for going slow. I do have my moments like everybody but the majority of the time I just pot along. I'm not even sure what MPGy current car gets! With the price of fuel at the moment I hate to look. Glad you enjoyed the drive, what reg and miles? Oh and colour?

The one I've driven is in red, fully stock, imported from the UK, 20k miles. not too sure abt the MPG since I only drive it once in a while as it belongs to my relative. it was an impounded car and sat in the sun for abt half a decade before it was up for auction. He doesnt drive it very much so I hope he's willing to sell one day :(

The paint on these cars is very soft, I'm a detailer so gave mine a full machine polish to bring the colour up and remove the majority of swirl marks (tiny scratches). The shape before this one called the Ep3 is already going up in value so I'm the future I'm pretty sure these will as well

@@CraigsChannel I love the UK. I have a few relatives there. I’m from Malaysia. The condition of the paint in the fn2 I’ve driven isn’t that great anymore. The value of the car in the used market doubled in the past 5 years, especially after the launching of the fk8. It is now valued at about 25k pounds. I’ve always wanted to own the fn2 since the maintenance on it is quite low and it’s a fun car. There’s lesser than 50 fn2’s in Malaysia, hope I can get my hands on one 🥹

2009 that must be a really late one, I'm sure they stopped making them around 59reg. I was looking for a little newer but this 57 plate popped up. Around 2007 I had a Ep3 shape 03 reg, loved how the gearknob was on the dash, but I like the feel of it on the Fn2 and steering feels tight on both cars. They're getting more popular these each day due to the price for what you're getting

I really enjoyed your video Craig. I am actually looking to buy one of these (probably a GT version) and i have one niggling question i can't seem to answer. I'm 6"2 and usually drive cars where i can sit quite low. I know these FN2's have drivers seat height adjustment but i don't know if i can be comfortable day to day. The reason i'm commenting on your video is because i think you live very close to me. I recognised the Greyhound rd in Boldon And white mare pool roundabout. Would you mind if i had a look at your car to see if one is any good for me? I live in Cleadon Village. I know it's a bit cheeky and i promise i'm not a freak or a weirdo. I just sold my car on Saturday so i'm hot on the search.Many thanks. Mat.

Don't worry yourself I wouldn't think anybody was a weirdo haha. Yeah that's fine, you're more than welcome to have a sit in the car see if it's right for you. Like I mentioned in the video I'm only small 5ft 6 and have to be right up, my best mates bang on 6ft and he lowers the seat right down. I could meet you at Asda maybes tomorrow or one day this week, I can tell you a bit more info on the cars as I've mentioned the common faults being rust on the roof etc

61 plate wow that must have been one of the last off the production line was it? Like I said Milano is my favourite but that Championship white is amazing, hows your paint doing for swirls? When I looked at these cars before buying all the paint was swirled to death, managed to machine polish mine last year and came up a treat. I've not been on FB around 3 years now mate

@@CraigsChannel Yeah I believe so, 56k miles so far. I thought they stopped production in 2010 until I purchased mine. Yeah i'd like a champ white, beautiful colour! Terrible for swirls and the bloody front bumper has turned partially pink , just goes to show it doesn't matter how old the car is, it's how it's been looked after by the previous owner.

Get yourself some Meguairs Ultimate Compound, works absolute wonders on the paint. Mine was in terrible condition until I machine polished it with the DA. Took me a full day but well worth it. I use the DA Argos sell for around £40-50 and some 3 and 4.5" backing players with Hexlogic pads, well worth the investment

@@CraigsChannel I actually bought some of the meguiars stuff but yet to buy a DA! I'm just worried because the paint is notoriously thin on these cars, don't want to strip it off.

I wouldn't worry, people think DA's are the devil haha, they're really easy to use if you take your time and have a look at some videos before hand. It's not that the paints thin on these, it's more soft than anything, but makes it easier to work with. If you were local I'd have done a test patch on yours to show you what it could look like! Are you planning on keeping yours for a while yet or other cars tickling your fancy? I'm looking at a few cars at the moment RS3, Golf R and m4, really not sure what to get, I've had a mixture or cars over the years, uploaded quite a few on here

No it's just paint I bought from Halfords. Its Hammerite. I used a wire brush on the calipers to remove any loose dirt or surface rust, sprayed some brake fluid cleaner on them, wiped them with a microfiber cloth, then applied some primer by brush, then applied the paint by brush. Took me a day to do all four. I've done the same on a few of my other cars just to make them look a bit nicer

Yeah standard they don't look good at all, I think my total was probably £15 at the most for paint and primer, a wire brush you'll get for really cheap. What colour are your wheels just silver?

So you've gone all blacked out! I almost bought a black one, have you machine polished the paint on yours? The paints super soft and so easy to work with. Mine was trashed when I bought it, but machine compound then machine polish brought it looking amazing, I really need to do it again but the weather is my enemy

nice review and nice reliable car with nice design i like the important notes you said about some issues as a viewer i would just suggest to skip the buttons parts and focus only on the main differences or extras or absences of some features that are deal breaker and i would like you to talk more about engine and gearbox differences and power compared to the normal civic cars and other cars in its class i like the way you described the seats and the ride of the car and what does it give the buyer thank you for the review

Is that a Type S? It's still a Vtec isn't it? The seats are so nice in mine but it's a shame for bigger people. My mk3 Focus RS had bucket seats but everybody seemed to fit snug in them

@@CraigsChannel its a IVTEC yes, standard ES type seats but still very snug. Im a Bodybuilder so its a bit of a struggle if you're a lump 😂Would love a TYPE R but super happy with mine. Yours is a real beauty 😍

@@qwertyqwerty950 They've been round this price for a couple of years now. Mine when I bought it needed work, the paint and interior were in a right state, so spent ages sorting that. With low miles they'll always cash in a premium. I'm not even sure how much I paid for mine 17 months ago, I know I won't lose on the car. If I had to guess I'd say £4400 it'll sell for, I'll just see what happens

@@qwertyqwerty950 like I say when I bought the car it wasn't very well looked after! Luckily I'm a valeter so cleaner it right up. I'm thinking of just getting a mk7 Golf next, R or GTD. Just really dont know what I want next! As long as it's got a turbo

Not yet mate, it's still on the drive. Think I've done maybes 1300miles in 6 months so very little use. I've already been looking at new cars, if pushes comes to shove and I find something while I've still got his I'll just put this in my cousins garage locked away until somebody wants it. Keep looking at Golf R and Golf GTD, I was tempted on an m4 but just dont know what to do 😂

@@Nutguy95 the 435d and CLS63 were both my mates, he works offshore and lives in Bulgaria so always leaves me his cars, I drove it more than he did 🙈 he bought a 4.2 Supercharged Range Rover Sport last year, I was meaning to do a video on that but he sold it to webuyanycar. I've been thinking about buying a mk2 Focus RS but prices are pretty much the same as a mk3 RS. The 435d people keep saying buy one of them, but I think I'd rather go for the m4

Quite a few people said I'm the only one they'd trust with there cars, they know how well I look after them and wouldnt kick somebody elses cars head in, I dont even do it to my own. The Honda you HAVE to kick in for the Vtec but I never use it, the video was the most I've ever used it, turbo all the way for me! Yeah a mk2 is going to be a struggle, rust issues and common faults are annoying. Just so many choices of cars out there I've no idea what the hell to buy

The guy who bought it didn't even haggle me, he said he'd been to see 3 or 4 others and they were in bad shape so guess he thought mine was a bargain. Everybody said I put it up for to cheap, but I was happy with the price

I sold it for £5000, I did offer it to the lad for £4800 as he was the only person who didn't try haggling me, but he said he was happy to pay the 5

It's a terrible position I absolutely hate the rear end of the car 😂 you just cant see out the back window at all, if a cars behind you've no idea what it is, just a horrible idea

@@kiltropablinho79 All cars have some kind of issue, I'm always honest when I review my cars I'll tell you what I do and dont like, I'm not being ungrateful or anything, I love all the cars I've had but none are perfect lol. I keep saying I'll sell this one but haven't gotten round to making an advert. So many cars to choose from!
