@untitled-gv3qp5 ай бұрын
@@WendiKoff I don't think that's how that works. Dogs don't survive on the streets by hunting they live near people and go through trash for food. Even if they manage to survive like that it's still considered unethical to throw your pets out on the streets. Besides that stray dogs and cats have a different relationship with humans than a formerly domesticated raccoon would. People will leave food out for strays or even treat stray cats like outdoor pets. If people see a stray dog going through their trash then they'll shoo them away but a raccoon will get shot because people associate them with pests and disease. It's the same reason you're not supposed to feed bears. If they start seeing humans the way our pets see us they'll get bolder and start wandering into inhabited areas where it's likely they'll be harmed from anyone trying to protect themselves from the dangerous animal.

It wouldnt let go of the blanket we used to wrap him up. So. We took him home for the night. Took care of him. Even though he was fully grown. We had just gone out for sushi and had a few left overs. Fed him that. Brought him to an animal sanctuary for the winter to be given proper help fpr his injury. And in spring i was asked to take him back and releaee him on my property. (100 acres of forest with rivers running throughout) when we let him go, he ran off a few feet, and looked back at us and stood there. Almost as if he was saying thankyou. The two remaining eggs hatched an hour or so later and couldnt find their mom, so they ran around our porch and squawked ag the door until my mom woke up and came outside. Being the first living thing the ducklings saw, they both went crazy for my mom like puppies. They came inside as soon as my mom opened the door so we adopted them and raised them in the bathtub and then the house then, once they were big enough the backyard and eventually they could fly and take care of themselves so they would stay at our house for a few hours then go visit their family at the pond next door. We found an abandon baby raccoon. Raised it on a bottle until it was old enough to eat. When we got it was a new born. Eyes were not even open. But the mom and others were gone . One of the best pets we ever had. We took it for shots. The vet was afraid of her. She was almost an adult. We raised her with puppies. She love to go for rides in the car. Dad would have to put her in the apple tree and run to the car so we could leave. She thought she was a dog. Because of being raised with puppies. That was 1964. Still miss Gertrude today .

Racoons are symbiotic roundworm carriers... so hopefully you and your family like roundworms! Symptoms start about one year after infection. When the adult worm is ready to lay eggs, it comes out through the skin. A blister develops, usually on the legs or feet, and becomes an open wound. When that part of your body is submerged in water, the tip of the worm comes out to lay its eggs. Symptoms include pain and swelling at the site of the wound.

@MeganVictoriaKearns6 ай бұрын
@@williambenner701Yeah, it's important to be aware that raccoons can carry rabies. I'm not certain on the risk of babies vs adults, but I wouldn't risk it. I do think it's important to celebrate the reaction, however, for the humans taking wise precaution but also for being kind. They didn't react by screaming at the baby and terrifying it beyond how scared it already was. Clearly. Like, they didn't grab a broom and instantly start swatting it in anger over the property damage. Which, unfortunately, is probably how most people in this situation would react. I'm a life-long animal rescuer and shelter volunterler and advocate for programs connecting senior humans with senior animals at low to no cost for the humans. I've personally only dealt with cats, 🐈 dogs, 🐕 and rabbits 🐇 but I have a soft heart for all animals, especially the very young and very old ones. So I appreciate this woman's kindness and concern for the baby taking precedence over (extremely understandable) anger over the damage to her home. The video cuts, but I'm 99% sure she and her husband (who was off getting gloves) followed through by calling wildlife authorities and didn't simply shove the scared little guy out the door. Good job, humans! ❤
