Aoi is literally the "little miss perfect", everyone expects so much from her and she's always alone even tho there's always people following her or trying to get closer to her.

It's both fascinating and heartbreaking that "stuck in a room" can be interpreted as Aoi being trapped in her own life, the expectations of the people around her, and the role she is forced to play. She has a lot more depth than we give her credit for. That being said, the transition from 0:55 - 1:01 is gorgeous ;w;

Aoi is really overlooked in how much pain she's probably in and how scared she is, like please just because she pretends to be fine doesn't mean she is. This poor girl was kidnapped and sacrificed she's not just "Nene-chan, have you heard the rumor?" She was turned into a doll as well. This poor high schooler is taking the brunt of everything. what did she do to deserve it? Nothing ;-;

IM ACTUALLY CRYING THAT WAS SO SAD The fact that Aoi has had someone her whole life that looked out for her was just heartbreaking how she completely over looked him :( But then when he went to ave her she felt a sense of realization that he was actually there for her. Im really exited for the next chapter

*MANGA SPOILERS!!* (I’m just going to go ahead and rant) Aoi’s character is really so amazing. She deserves a lot more attention then we as a fandom are giving her. It’s really sad how good she was at faking everything, to everyone, even her best friend Nene, Nene just thought of her as a perfect girl who happened to be her best friend. Nothing really more behind it. She probably thought it would be better for Nene to think of her as perfect instead of her finding out the truth. And when she got involved with the supernaturals, and almost got killed countless times, that’s probably where she snapped. And that’s probably why she got so mad at Nene for not telling her anything. So when Akane went to save her and ended up confessing that he knows she isn’t perfect, and that he hates how fake she is, I have a feeling she felt a lot of relief. I have a feeling she knew that Nene and Hanako wouldn’t really die. And that the reason she stabbed Akane was because she was tired of hearing him saying he loves her and how “perfect she is”. In the end Akane was really the only one who understood her, but he didn’t say it sooner and she didn’t realize it until it was too late. Honestly I love how much depth every character has, I love them a lot. And of course I’m not saying that Nene didn’t appreciate Aoi, because Nene loves and appreciates her very much just like Aoi does to her, but she just didn’t know her as much as she thought she did.

1:01 the way Aoi looked here just broke my heart to pieces. Especially when her shadow was shown blocking her child self. You did so well with little visuals conveying messages. When I watched tbhk, I had this vibe from Aoi that she's hiding something and pretending, almost coming off as fake. When I read the manga, I understood her character so much more and started to like her

Spoilers . . . . I think what I love so much about Toilet Bound Hanaka is how every character feels almost equally as important. I remember when I first started reading and Aoi showed up, I told myself that I probably wouldn't even have to remember her name, because she wasn't going to be important, same with Akane, and Mistuba, and I was incredibly wrong. They all add to the story as fully fleshed out characters with their own goals and morals and it's truly beautiful and crazy to think that characters that I told myself would only be used as plot devices for what I considered to be the main cast, would end up being my favorites in the end.
