The Texas Beekeeper, first off I love the name!💪🏼 How many hives do you manage and what are your goals? You can always jump on a semi with a commercial outfit to make the trip out west for pollination. I know a lot of sideliner beeks that do this

@@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper Thanks man. Lots of inspiration from your channel. I've commented on your channel before as "Blain" and you've been great at answering my questions about pollination. I'm currently only at 16, but have plans to increase this year, to hopefully 45. Trying to go slow and steady even as impatient as I am to get up there as quickly as possible. Just need to keep it within budget. Love the thought of heading out there for pollination. I'm probably at least 2 years out before I would be comfortable taking some out that way to make it worth it. I have a day job that I can't leave just yet.

I'm just getting into beekeeping. But migratory pollination definitely intrigues me. I would love to learn more about doing this. How is it paid? Weekly? Biweekly? How much per hive? How long at a location? And I agree.... your kid definitely brightens up any video. Keep up the great work
@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper
@TheCaliforniaBeekeeper 2 жыл бұрын
Each hive is paid a flat pollination fee depending on the strength of the colonies and also the growers needs. Typically bloom last about 2-3 weeks depending on the weather. When most of the bloom pops some growers will release a certain percentage of colonies.

Thank you for the great videos that you produce I have learned a lot by watching them. I am greatly interested in learning more about the pollination I am a small time hobby beekeeper, unfortunately I only have 6 colonies at the moment. But I would love to gain some experience moving Bees in and out of the almond fields. If you are need some of some labor please let me know. I would love to gain some experience and see if pollination would be in my future. Thanks again, love the videos. You are one of the channels that inspired me to start my own KZfaq channel.

That is a great question- a lot of factors here that you would take into consideration i.e. where are they coming from, your cost of shipping, what do you normally do with them during the almond pollination period, what benefits the bees the most, the terms of the pollination contract, etc.
