The Animal Planet show Call of the Wildman was one of the most bizarre and over-the-top reality shows the network has perhaps ever produced. The show starred Ernie “The Turtleman” Brown, Jr., a man with few teeth but a lot of guts who went around catching dangerous animals who were bothering people. The show was quite dramatic, so it’s not too surprising that there have been all kinds of allegations of the events being staged, and Brown’s treatment of animals did not go over well with a lot of people either. Let’s take a look at the untold truth of Turtleman from Call of the Wildman.

I remember like when I was 5, this and Gator Boys was the shit that kept me going. I had really bad breathing problems, like I had to spend hours at different intervals during the day(I think it was about 8 am, and 6pm) using this big ass breathing machine to keep my lungs going (for the life of me, I can't remember it's name). I would watch Animal planet while using the machine. I watched Turtleman, Gator Boys, Untamed Uncut, and documentaries all day. I watched it while most kids would watch kid shows, I watched it while eating, after I woke up, I'd have it playing in the background while I played with toys, watch it as I fell asleep, and especially while using my breathing machine. After it stopped I was heartbroken because around the same time my other favorite animal planet shows were closing up shop, and after that I stopped watching TV in general, and I still hardly ever sit down to watch anything, due to the fact that there were no classic shows. They should bring back some of the good shows, I couldn't give two shits about Rocky Mountain Vet, but if they brought back Pitbulls and Parolees(I think it may still be on though) and even animal cops, I'd watch way more of Animal Planet. Tanked is the only show I remembered that is still on after all these years.

All this doesnt matter to me . All reality shows have to be staged to some degree. The fact is ,he really does catch wild animals with his bare hands.+ he and his friends are fun and cool.And its a show kids could watch. I have generally lost interest in all " reality " shows because they can only come up with so many new angles. Then you can tell theyre scraping to find a new interesting episode. About the only ones I watch now are Swamp people and mountain men, because I like most of the characters and what they do.

I always loved this show so much. It was just a happy little show that never ceased to put a smile on my face. Was so much fun to watch. I'd sure as hell rather watch this on Animal Planet than shows about stupid tree houses or pools. If another channel would ever pick it up, I'd watch it again in a second.

Loved Turtleman...was a great show until producers started pushing him out of his element...and had him dealing with animals that could have gotten him killed! NOT his fault! It was the network! His followers would have been fine watching him relocate snapping turtles, possoms, and skunks...but instead they had him chasing bulls, alligators, and zebras???!! Network assholes! Should have put them out there to raise their ratings...and let Turtleman watch!

Well this is upsetting. ;-; I used to watch this show all the time when I was like, 11 (it was all that was on and I liked animals and stuff like that, don't judge-). I sent him a letter once and I was so proud of myself when I actually got a hand written reply. :'3 It told us about a meet and greet, and my family decided to go for the hell of it. I even used my old nightgown to make a doll- When we finally got there the guys seemed really sweet, especially Ernie. He put my doll up in the museum (it was a museum for him or something), and again, I felt super proud of myself. -,w,- It's probably still there if the exhibit is even still open- It's a museum somewhere in his home town. It's sad to see all this stuff was faked. Though, I have a feeling it was more like things were setup for Ernie to catch. I don't think he actually knew about the shady stuff. He seemed really genuine when I met him, though I may be remembering wrong (I'm 16 now, so-). Idk. I'm just saying, I'm not sure if I make sense. XD Don't mind me-

I loved this show when it was on tv! I'm pretty sure I watched every episode before it was taken down, which sucks. These are good reasons as to why the show might have stopped and there could have been other reasons as well but it will still be one of my favorites.. LIFE ACTION, CRAZY BABY!!
