Loose screws in Summicron-C 1:2 / 40 for Leica CL

The focus ring was loose and it could not go from near end all the way to infinity, because there was 3 very loose screws in this Summicron-C 1:2 / 40 for Leica CL.
Use Loctite 222 as a thread locker, it's the purple type and the most soft.

The threaded ring on mine (has white dot marker for aperture) is loose and spinning. Hmmm

Thanks a lot for your tutorial. Helped a lot lubricating the focus tab. One question: Have you a tutorial about the C 40 (or similar lens) opening the front element?

I do not at the moment have a similar lens like the C-40, but some years I made this video about Dust in Leitz Leica Summilux M 1:1.4 / 35_____Motion Lapse film. I know it's not the same but maybe you can use it, it's without any sound. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m9d_es2JmbrSaWg.html

The retaining ring on this lens is very thick and is so difficult to unscrew. I tried to remove it with a regular lens spanner wrench and ended up scratching some paint off the retaining ring. Stopped there before risking any damage to the glass....

Yeah sometimes the retaining rings can be really hard to unscrew. Sometimes I use nail polish remover on the thread to soften the thread locker, then hopefully unscrew with a rubber tool.

Do you know if the construction of the 40mm M-Rokkor is the same as this? I would like to re-lubricate the focusing helicoid because my lens has a tiny bit of sideways wobble.

Hey, I’d love to hear how this went. I have the same issue with my lens. I just picked it up and it clearly needs a little attention, because yeah, there’s some slop in the focusing mechanism. How’d your repair go? Thanks!

I got a Leica CL with the Summicron-C 1:2 / 40 from my grandpa last year. It works fine but the ring in the front with the dot on it which shows the selected aperture is loose and can be twisted. Do you know how i can disassemble the lens to fix it?
