Lesson learned after this piece of equipment. Good thing you decided to repair and rebuild this unit.

Wow! Pulling that off by hand, you're so lucky! I have two car jacks with c channel and chains and hooks and the damn thing hasn't budged!

Yeah that nut was super loose lol.

I thought castle nuts like that weren’t supposed to be torqued that’s why the cotter pin is there to keep it from backing off?
@Tightwad642 жыл бұрын
Tks for the info I have the same trouble on mine I am going to use red lock tight just because lol
@csedan5102 жыл бұрын
I'd say you're lucky, it took me DAYS of heating and pounding to get mine off.
@Lanninglongarmmowing2 жыл бұрын
That's probably why the previous owner didn't tighten the nut very much lol.

Idk how you didn’t feel it was loose...our bush hog (brand) was jumping up and down when it got loose
@hubertrobinson88252 жыл бұрын
The lower shaft has slightly tapered splines the cause of that was worn blades instead of cutting its beating the hell out of everything burns more fuel and wear out parts unnecessarily a temporary fix to the worn splines is using a thicker washer under the nut until you can replace that shaft
@jram70473 жыл бұрын
I definitely think your being a little dramatic about something wearing out or just not be adjusted
@rfnrdy98303 жыл бұрын
Mine was loose also, it’s a year old, I pulled the cotter pit and torqued it back down. Things get loose. If you want new, buy new, right? You’re the only one that made a common sense statement so that’s why I’m replying to it, lol.

@@rfnrdy9830 In another video he puts the wrong blade bolts in it and then puts cotter pins in the nuts. He’ll never get those out without pulling the stump jumper off again. And good luck with that if he didn’t anti-seize the splines before he put it back on.
@rfnrdy98302 жыл бұрын
@@ralfie8801 I can’t believe I watched that again… I’d be more worried about the gearbox detaching from the frame , the way it’s rusted out , than the nut being loose.
@ralfie88012 жыл бұрын
@@rfnrdy9830 I’ve got the same cutter and it’s probably as old as his or older. It’s just got surface rust on it, and it may have looked worse because it was originally painted red before the paint all oxidized itself off. Mine still has remnants of red showing along with some yellow. It was red with HICO PM5 stenciled on the side skirts, it also had a yellow tail wheel. Mine needs a new tail wheel hub and axle, I might go ahead and paint the whole thing back red with the yellow stuff like it was when we bought it new with the new tractor way back in 1982.

Mine just fell off while I was cutting a field and now I have to figure out how to reattach it and the splines are really worn bad so I don’t know if I can use it or I was thinking about welding it
@Lanninglongarmmowing11 ай бұрын
That's not good. It may be time for a new one. If you do weld it, the bottom seal in your gear box will probably leak. Just put some john deere corn head grease in it up to the full mark.

Maybe you should've taken it to a dealer in your area for a inspection.

Mike Walko I bought a generic 45cc Chinese chainsaw for the same reasons, because of his success in his videos.

I bought a used bushog a few yrs ago and didnt check the stump jumper either. The previous owner had lost the nut that holds it on and welded it to the output shaft. It fell off the second season I used it. I welded it back on and it lasted for another season and fell off again. So i rebuilt the gearbox and replaced the output shaft. Nothing dramatic happens when the stump jumper comes off. It just drops to the ground. It does pay to check that nut from time to time. Especially before you buy a used one.

Make sure you put anti seize on those splines.

There is nothing wrong with that hub being loose. Lol.

Time for some new parts, rebuild it to nearly new condition.

When you put it back on be sure to coat shaft with never seize so maybe you can get it off again someday in the future, Always check that key before you use equipment,
@Lanninglongarmmowing6 жыл бұрын
I put grease on the shaft and on the blade bolts so I am able to get them off. Hopefully it will be easy next time. Thanks for watching.

how about this idea when you know you are going to pull yourstump jumper and blades loosen the nut put a new cotter pin in and let the rotation of the jumper loosen it from the shaft .no much to dangerous. just use heat and replace th shaft seal it will b e ruined from the heat anyway...

What do you expect with a piece of crap cheap little bush hog
@Lanninglongarmmowing5 жыл бұрын
The stump jumper will get stuck on there on any brush hog. That doesn't happen to just the cheap ones. Lol. The brush hog was all we could afford because money doesn't grow on trees.

get some hard facing rods and weld up some new metal on those blades , 13 $ a lb better than buying new blades
