Join me as I paint this loose watercolor peony! Great for a beginner at watercolor, this tutorial will give you some of the basics as well as something to work off of!
While I normally paint with a more realistic style, I am excited to be able to share this looser style with you once in a while-I think it’s a wonderful way to practice and showcase different skill sets like color theory, space and depth and composition. And who doesn’t love a watercolor peony? I mean, really!

I like the loose style a lot! Your flowers are gorgeous. Being a beginner the looser style feels more difficult as it requires a level of brush and water control I haven't mastered. Highly realistic flowers require degree of drawing skill I'm also short on but the painting is tighter and seems easier to control. I might be completely off base about that since I'm a newbie with little experience so far..
@katrinacrouch
@katrinacrouch 3 жыл бұрын
I agree! Loose watercolor flowers demand a lot of control and knowledge of the elements of art in order for it to look good because you have to communicate very carefully with the viewer! So challenging-I find loose way harder than realistic, hah!
