They do charge for the night, especially in the cheaper hotels, across North America and even the UK, and some European countries as well. You have to take care of the time here. 40 minutes is alot of time. If you are going to be late for check out, you should always inform the reception before. Pakistani’s unfortunately have the tendency to take things easy. That doesn’t work everywhere

@@BeingATraveler The place may have not offered free late checkout but once we are late, then the ownership is on us not them. Also informing them before hand will give you a clue whether they are ok with 40 min delay. If not, then its best to leave by the checkout time to avoid late charges.

@@BeingATraveler You need to inform in advance at reception about your late check-out plan, then, you can spend some time without paying extra money!! i faced the same situation in London Ontario Canada but i informed about my late check-out plan to reception, they, very kindly allowed me for late check-out without charging any extra CAD!!

Its always a good idea to review the check out policy including late check out rules when checking in. Hard lesson to learn but most of us at sometime in our lives have paid a similar price. Love your vlogs. Don't let it discourage you

Blame no one but yourself for charge on late check out. Even I don’t travel lot but I take check out time very seriously anywhere USA or Canada or Europe. If you’ve talk to reception earlier this wouldn’t have happened to you. Sorry you learn the hard way and you won’t make same mistake in future

It is sad that you had a bad experience in Toronto. I'm not sure if you informed them that you were late for your check out, hotels may give u some extra time in that case. Hostel should've been more flexible with u. However, it all started with you being late with your check. I hope with this happened, you would be able to avoid such a situation in the future. Array Bhai, Time punctuality is not a Pakistani trait. If it says the check out time is 11 am, it is 11 am unless you request them a day early. You just assumed that 45 min is OK, hahaha. It is your mistake, not theirs. They had the right to charge you extra fees/penalities. In most cases if somone ask for a late checkout, they are accomodating.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. It is better to check with the reception prior to checking in otherwise you'll encounter the same issue in other places too....Canada is a bit pricey when it comes to traveling but I hope you enjoyed your trip to Canada otherwise !!!

The checkout time is 11:0 am across North America (US & Canada) unless a request is made in advance for the late checkout and accommodated by the hotel management. You can't simply assume to check out after set hours.. I feel your pain given that you were on a budget (and a phenomenal exchange rate). You should have talked to the manager to discuss the issue and request to wave the charges. Customer service is given prime importance whether you are in US or Canada. A Pakistani American.

Salman bhai in sab travel expenses me Air tickets + Hostel ki cost he important hoti hai. Air tickets or Hostel kay rates daily different hotay hain. Just check it from google. Baqi food or ghoomna phirna har aik ka apna apna hota hai

It's not their fault, it's yours bilal. In north America ( as someone already mentioned in the comments ) that's the policy you will be charged full amount. You should follow the policy and rule and regulations. When we travel, we do checkout on time or we'll be charged good amount. Don't be upset about it just be careful next time... 🙏 🙏

I would recommend to email the owner/company for a refund on your credit card, be polite and assertive at the same time, they will refund you. Do not forget to attach your receipt and stay details.

Don’t give them a chance to charge u unnecessary ,always take care of it in advance by informing them if u are going to be late for checkout ,if u are a regular or genuine traveler then u should know it’s the rule and one must obey it ,try to admit the fault from ur side too ,overall it’s Upto then if they charge u for whole day or hourly ,not good gesture from their side either .

You’ve option to lodge complaint to Better Business bureau and ask for refund as resolution. If company don’t refund complaint stays unresolved as a record. Complain can be filed online

The hostel staff followed the policy although they also had the option as courtesy to waive the late checkout fee. However saying "loot lia Toronto ne" is not appropriate as you yourself mentioned in your NIAGRA FALL ki kahani | EP-08 about how people follow parking rules/laws and how they are implemented.

We need to be on time ourselves. We cannot take things for granted. A few minutes late is usually acceptable but it depends on the person. It is luck I guess. All developed countries are like this

Chalk it up to experience. Next time ask the checkout policy beforehand. Having said that it would have been nice if they offered you a courtesy. After Covid, everyone is trying to shake you down for extra money. Look at how your review could have changed if you were given a break. Negative publicity in business is never good. Its totally unacceptable and horrible. Just for 45 minutes charging 1.5 days rent . Pure looting and sheer dishonesty. No where in the world such a rate is charged. But surely this money has not been earned in a legal manner and soon hostel will incur unprecedented expenses which will break its back. All the beat for your future travels

Sorry to say but you are wrong in this my friend. You need to check the policies. I travel almost every month and always inform them from before if I am departing late. Sometimes the hotel is ok with the late departure and other times they inform me that they cant do it or there is a late departure fees. You should have reviews the policies before. Your video title is very misleading.

It’s unfortunate but you need to understand it from their point of view as well. Policies exist for a reason. Hotels and hostels have cleaning staff who work shifts and are paid by the hour. Cleaning staff assigned to your room would have had to wait almost an hour, resulting in extra charges for the hostel. If you inform them in advance about late check-out they almost always adjust their cleaning resources and accommodate. It’s not about Toronto ripping you off, but a miscommunication and cultural gap. Hospitality staff in the west are accommodating but communication in advance is very very important.

Next time be on time. You lost your hard earned money but it doesn’t justify the fact that you were late 45 minutes, don’t over react, it’s not pakistan.
