I realize that a lot of people are sad about the missing ending. I wish I had access to a complete recording but to my knowledge such a thing might not even exist. This is 'the full show' in the sense that it is the Most complete version of the show in known existence. I also encourage those willing and able to download this video and keep it secret and safe just in case someone DMCAs my ass.

My partner and I flew out to Chicago to see the new production at the Shakespeare theater. We ended up having such a good time that we bought tickets to see it a second time! Hopefully the new tours are a hit and the show continues to grow!

Thank you so much for uploading this! As a huge fan of Lord of the Rings and musical theater, it was a great sadness to me that I never got to see this show. Even if the video isn't complete and much of it is blurry, it was amazing to finally see this! Not gonna lie, I got a little teary-eyed a few times. Been wanting to watch this for years. There's a revival being performed over in England now that's getting good reviews. Maybe it will convince other theater companies to tackle this musical in the future.

This still stands as the most spectacular theatrical production I’ve ever seen. I feel so lucky to have made it to see it in London ☺️ I have always hoped it would return somewhere in this its original form. Stunning music, magical theatrical moments, costumes, illusion, intricate sets, action packed choreography. It was a wonder!

@@jaquesmerde9146 it’s semi immersive, in the perfect setting. Scaled down as not in a large theatre, which brings intimacy. All parts played by actor-musicians.

Thank you ever so much for posting this as I doubt this show will ever be staged again due to the cost of producing such an intricate musical. I thoroughly enjoyed it, however. The staging was superbly done, the music and choreography both outstanding, and the special effects unexpectedly complex and totally mesmerizing! How I wished I could have seen it live! So why did it play for only six months on Broadway? (Or was it London? Not sure.) I can only imagine that the running time of a good 3 hours was problematic to non-Tolkien devotees and that the storyline might have been difficult to follow if one were not well-versed in the mythology of Middle Earth- - and I doubt most (NYC or London) critics are hard core LOTR fans, which saddens me. This was quality entertainment with a great moral lesson to boot; how I wish more musicals had such substance! It certainly deserved more recognition than it got. I recognized Laura Michelle Kelly's outstanding soprano voice as Galadriel, that in and of itself is certainly worth the price of admission! Is there anything she can't do? Wow. Amazing vocals. Kudos also for the fast paced "The Cat and the Moon," the delightful "The Road Goes On," and the ode to true friendship, "Now and For Always." Each superb in its own way, and so complementary to the action of the musical. I loved the music so much that I purchased a CD to call my own. So thank you, Magikarp, watching this musical was certainly an evening well-spent.❤

@@juliajohnson2285 we do know it was recorded and I believe they even planned on putting it on DVD but it would’ve never been this version So it could be a press r Recording but that still begs the question of how did they find it. The video of this musical has been considered partially lost media for like 15 years. And then someone just randomly puts it online with no context My brain is fried

I agree, this is puzzling. I know all stage musicals have a sort of a scratch reference recording just like this one- Just a camera set up at the back of the audience to capture the show just for future reference but they’re normally only available to the license holders. This is crazy that they have this BUT I’m not complaining at all!! I’m loving it so far
@Caladaitico
@Caladaitico Жыл бұрын
This is a production recording, usually for the stage managers to check the performance and gave orders to the rest of the technicians, so probably, someone from inside get it and shared it. Probably the "camera shutters" are the moving spotlights near the camera. You could listen the audience claping after the Balrog, but seeing the guy with the camera and I think, the technician walking in 2:13:11, I would say this is a rehearsal.

this should be a production video, not for release. It's very common at musicals, that they film the complete show, so actors can watch it afterwards to check their playing. Also the light people can check if the spots and lits sit right at their place. Usually ther is only one camera without a single change of angle, alwas sot on the complete stage.

I've definitely seen video footage of the Wonder sequence with Gollum falling the full height of the stage into the fire. Saw the show twice in London- precious memories! The attention to detail was amazing, including the moment the Ballrog exploded and tiny fragments were blown ito the audience. so you felt the force of the explosion.
