It looks like Lorde CAN take a joke… and yes, we’re still talking about the hilarious South Park episode.
The 17-year-old singer was recently spoofed on South Park, and while some might think a celebrity would be all sensitive about it, not only did she find it hysterical; she’s even done an impression of herself from the show. So just in case you haven’t heard about this, the popular show had a story line that involved Stan’s dad Randy being the true identity of the Grammy winning singer. He got on stage dressed in full on Lorde gear, and belted out this little number.
Ya ya ya. And IRL, Lorde took the joke in stride as she even recreated the hilarious moment we just showed you.
In fact, Lorde even retweeted that little video clip. That moment, FYI, was taken from an interview, and she elaborated on the whole situation, saying QUOTE
"That was really funny! I got off really easy. I was thinking, 'Yeah he has a moustache... I mean I have a moustache, but is it that prominent?' But it was someone's dad pretending to be me. We actually, in my hotel room, went 'Ya ya ya ya ya I'm Lorde! Ya ya ya!' for like an hour, because that's why they do on the episode, so..."
Lorde, you’re my new favorite person. And maybe her friendship with Taylor Swift is rubbing off on her - because this kinda reminds us of the whole “No it’s Becky” thing.

Jenna Kenna Broseph calm down. I'm just having fun. I have nothing against Lorde or Randy. But honestly, I think it would be awesome if she acknowledged, even appreciated Randy Marsh. He's a geologist and that's a very important profession. He's also a very loving and passionate man and a father to Stan and Shelly Marsh. He can be really crazy sometimes, and a lot of times he's more of a main character than any of the others. But these things, the geology and the passion, they could use some attention and Lorde could provide that. I'm saying, in South Park, the character Randy kind of did something that showed appreciation for Lorde, raised awareness about her. It was actually how I found out about her, through the cartoon. It would be awesome, I think, to see Lorde reciprocate by maybe pretending to be Randy Marsh and giving a presentation as geologist or a scientist or just as an outgoing and adventurous dad from a small mountain town.

the creators have said there was really only one celebrity they ripped on they actually didn't like; barbar streisand. which to me makes sense... as I thought the mecha streisand wasn't funny and super out of place when I saw it, and I think that might be why. They were making jabs to spite her, not to be funny and it just slaps differently than the other celebrity spoofs like Ben Affleck and J-lo, or any other.

I've loved this girl since the first time I heard Royals. I remember thinking, "she's got an amazing voice and a super interesting style of singing. If people actually watched the episode, they spoofed her, but didn't really discredit her at all. In fact at the end of the episode there is a whole speech about how good she actually is compared to many other similar female artists. I agree with Matt & Trey and actually like her music.

That's not a random joke, it's referencing real events. If Caitlin Jenner sees it, she should take it to heart and have her feelings hurt because bringing it up in the show seems more like bringing awareness to her actions. Let's face it; sometimes, *it's funny BECAUSE it's true*. Jokes like with Lorde that have nothing to do with reality are what Yves is talking about.

Lorde can take a joke? Well no shit this joke wasn't the least bit offensive. The joke is just that Lorde is actually Randy.. There's no social commentary being made it's just a regular joke. They even openly compliment her in that episode. Rob Schneider can take a joke. He thought South Park went too easy on him (they did).
