Lords debates UK-Rwanda Agreement | House of Lords

Members will debate the International Agreements Committee's report on the UK-Rwanda Treaty. In its report, the committee recommends that significant legal and practical steps need to be taken before the safeguards provided in the Rwanda Treaty can be fully implemented.
Members will also debate a motion put forward by Lord Goldsmith that the government should not approve the UK-Rwanda agreement on an asylum partnership until the protections it provides have been fully implemented, as Parliament is being asked to make a judgement that Rwanda is safe.
If the motion not to ratify the treaty is agreed to, the government would have to provide a statement to Parliament explaining its reasoning if it wishes to continue with ratification despite the motion passing.

Correct 👍👍👍..an 'all expenses paid' Care Home for a load of old draconian has beens...but this delay of tactics should come as no surprise...perhaps someone should ask each one of them if they have 'room' in one of their mansions to house a few of the immigrants ....

They are doing nothing to protect us as ppl in the 🇬🇧 It's all ppl that benefit from the gravytrain itself, if they came for a walk among the reality of this up North, but to live in these areas for a week, they'd soon get a shock & be gone in a day, immigration is changing areas for the worsed, not the better.

I would scrap the House of Lords in its entirety tomorrow if i had my way .Its full of pompous individuals who seem to think that their opinions are more important than those across the country. the Lords also contain many who like the sound of their own voices but never listen to others. The whole thing is a total anachronism and outdated institution which should have been abolished donkeys years ago.

No, they'll wave them in, than after that they don't care where they go, or how it affects the community, the housing for our own, education, crime or health, if they need anything! They'll pay for the best, thats because most have shares in many of these organisations.

Our current PM isn't elected either and the Rwanda scheme has been shown to be unpopular in the polls so there's no political popularity there either to grant them legitimacy or a mandate to pass bills like this. Neither of the legeslative bodies in Parliament are really elected right now but the reason thr Lords isn't is to provide expertise and ensure that they focus on long-term impact rather than political point scoring so I don't see your point

Because all the aid sent, the leaders used it for themselves! So the countries never progressed, so now we are getting the history card thrown at us, when I remember the billions raised to help in aid, it's just the 🇬🇧 been taken advantage of again, the Lords don't care about everyday ppl, especially who live up North in complete mess, all through the burden of immigration, these ppl are not needed, they live so far from another reality in the 🇬🇧

Funny, that these well to do Lords, always override the will of the ppl, its not just upto these to decide what goes on in this country, But dont worry! where they live its blissful & safe, So why would the Lords care aboit us peasants, lets be honest, Justin as ruined COE, he probably hasn't been up North for years, such a man of God 🙈 so its not like they care how it affects us everyday ppl, its all about 💰 Labour are far worsed on this.

I said some years ago that the potential is for many millions of illegal immigrants to enter and stay in this country bringing their religion and culture but before those millions enter this country must experience large scale civil unrest and this is so obvious that it makes one think the elite want this unrest. The troubles will be kicked off by an "event" which may be a terrorist act or some other event we already have very militant Muslim preachers and we can see our culture changing .Our politicians work within an elitist system more suited to the days of the writing of the Magna Carta where the elite Barons forced the king to maintain their elitism ,the inclusion of ordinary people was rhetoric because they know the masses were poor and without power.

The bearing weight of the motion in question for ratification is by any standard willfull evaison, and self gratification in the lords the prares spoken in that place represent the commonwealth and to here not on of these lords place rewanda and the commonwealth in high regard and place a burocratic un charter above the charter of the commonwealth is an ecample of the short sight of his motion to delay ratification, its a laught and a complete show of disrespect for rewands. He question on motion on ratification is not in the interest of the vommon wealth but a european court of which has no consideration or bearing on the commonwealth and this motion demonstrates tge lack of understanding tthag lord has and id s conplete misleading delay
