Smaaaall point of contention, but Lords of the Realm 2 was only published by Sierra, as opposed to being developed by them. Impression Games were the guys behind it. Still a great video though! c:

Make sure to download the fan-made patch. It has some glitches with the voice lines and mouse scrolling speed I think.

I remember playing this game. Such an obscure childhood memory Lord of the Realms 2 is! The nostalgia of me not being good at this game due to me being a child and not knowing what I was doing. Yep my empire went into ruin and I got nightmare fuel from the dungeon execution scene. The animation was cool though. Thanks for the memory's Sir Hammy!

I remember playing it for hours trying to figure it out when I was eight... I was terrible. my strategy was: "WHOA I CAN BUY KNIGHTS? BUY ALL THE KNIGHTS!" *Buys three knights* "That's not a lot of knights...SEND THEM TO WAR!". Good times, good times.

I love that Warcraft style birds-eye view. Isometric may look better, but there's something about how immediately and simply you can gauge how the battle is going.

Basically, the first rule of that game was to never keep cattle. If you didn't keep cattle, having castles and lots of bows was easy because of all the excess labour for most of the year.

Fun fact. In medieval time, there was no purple to represent a kingdom because the way purple was made was very expensive. So, no king would have actually choose to make thousants of purple shield in the kingdom that would cost more than the king's castle itself.

Nowadays, the closest we'd ever get to witnessing medieval warfare are hockey games. Love Realms 2 as, for me, it toppled any big-name strategy games out there.
