I live in and grew up in mckenzie. It's hard to find housing, and there's nothing here unless you're a college student or retired. Dr's are in other towns as well as most shopping and towns roll up just after dark. We love our rebels, and they just had a game for state. The caboose is used as a consession stand in the summer for the splash pad behind it. The mckenzie bank you found is now our library. The park with the gazebo honors our veterans with all the plaques everywhere, and the theater is still in operation. the cardboard guy was the man who owned the theater . Thank-you for visiting us.

Just got back from Camden Tennessee visiting my wife’s kin. Always ready to go visit Tennessee. Played golf at Paris Landing in Paris, Tennessee. It can’t get any better then this area. My wife and I got married in 1977 in her grandmother’s front room by her uncle who was a preacher(God rest his soul) in Bruceton,Tenn.

My husband’s aunt lives in Paris, TN. Beautiful courthouse ! I love murals that tell the story of the town. I enjoyed seeing these nice towns. Lots of nice homes, especially the White House in Martin, and great downtowns.

I live in Paris, Ontario , named as such because of “ Plaster of Paris “ mining which was located near the town. The mining ceased production many decades ago. The town itself dates back to the mid 1800s. It was the location of the first long distance telephone call between Alexander Graham Bells lab in Brantford , Ontario and the telegraph centre in Paris, Ontario.

Dear Joe and Nic, thank you for you video of Martin Tennessee, as a matter of fact , thank you for all your videos. I enjoy them so much. Back in the early 60’s fresh out of high school, I spent a week or so in Martin. It was a very pleasant experience. My Aunt own a restaurant on the very street that you were on. Lindell Street. She was divorced and a hard working lady. She would get up before daybreak and head on down to the restaurant to start cooking for the day. I would sleep in and when I woke up, I would walk to the restaurant. They had just opened a new dollar store, two doors down and when the girls, that worked there had their break, they would come to the restaurant, one by one, to meet Ms. Lane’s nephew. That was my “Summer of 42” ! I will never forget the good people that I met and enjoyed as a young man of 18. I Loved Martin, Tennessee! Thanks again Joe!!

I think we need to preserve all history in this country good or bad. It's a reminder of the past. Tennessee looks like a beautiful state.

Joe, Your comments are so quiet and respectful. I really enjoy the replies by people who lived in the towns or had family there. Statistics don't paint a realistic picture of these people and there everyday lives. These area more typical of America, they represent reality for better or worse, but are what made us what we are today. When I see those Confederate grave yards or monuments, I don't hate on them, they were part of us and many, not all but many ,wanted a better country. Not all Germans who fought in WW2 were anti--Semitic and not all Confederate soldiers believed in slavery. Cheers, Rik Spector

I very much enjoyed your video you did a wonderful job, I just discovered your channel today it said about Paris Tennessee and due to the fact that I have lived here for 40 years I had to look, only thing I disagree with is the crime rate , we have an exceptionally low crime rate and I am so thankful, our city police and county sheriff's are great , they actually take the time to get to know people starting from children which are important ❤

Prior to watching your video, I would have said that Paris, Tennessee was most famous for having been mentioned in the George Jones and Tammy Wynette hit "We're Not the Jet Set".

Looks like the people there take pride in their towns

I had a former friend who lived in Martin TN we met online I had never been to Martin. We were friends for about 5 years. Then one day I realized I hadn't heard from him for awhile. Later I learned he stole a car and got into a high speed chase with the cops (Weakley county sheriff I believe) crashed and went to prison. I guess you never really know what some people are capable of. Thanks for the tour. I've never seen this part of TN.

saw a video yesterday of a woman 70 year old living in her car, one of those New England States, she gets 2K a month cannot find a place to live, in none of the states around her, She should move to a place like this, know it is not where she wants to live but she would have a roof over her head. I get about 2k a month in SSDI and Pension, I would move to a place like this before I live in a car

I appreciate seeing the down towns of the cities and thanks for going into the neighborhoods of the cities where ordinary everyday people live. I loved you all critiques on the various foods at the resturants would make a good food channel show blended with your travels❤

McKenzie was obviously a Louisville & Nashville town. Looks like most of the old L&N lines in the area are now fragmented stubs. Cabooses were used as a rolling office by the conductor to process car waybills and set up switching lists. The conductor was also a company man and boss of the train. There was usually a rear brakeman and the train would also have a switchman that could be in the locomotive cab or the caboose. Another great tour, thanks much!

Wow Christmas music. That is cool. Never heard that before .Even when growing up our city never did that. We had the lightening of the tree for everyone in the town square and the parade but no music that I remember. Stay safe in your travels and yea visiting every Paris town would be cool.

Huntington Tennessee 10 miles south of McKenzie. Beautiful courthouse, active court theater, Dixie Carter art center,Train depot and you missed it all. Go home and the Mustangs

I live in Morristown Tn., close to the Ky. border, an hour out of Knoxville. The downtown areais old school also, they are removing the newer facades on a few of the bldgs., The but red brick, too. The courthouse is classic, brick, with lawn of grass and live oaks. I like it here very much; moved here from Nor. Ca.. Old school South.

Also damaged the building to the left with the fake facade, now a mural. ... otherwise - that must be the place! ...Martin: Looks quaint & "normal"... Union City typical also - gawd, X'mas music SOS - after 70-some years it gets old! - love it when it stops after New Years! 🎆Police must be bored there - maybe too many for that town.... It seems Nicole seldom travels through the day with you anymore but she's there come dinnertime! No dinner that night? Hope she's OK! 🤩

Joe, my home town. I haven’t been there in about 10 years and it’s like a time capsule. Nothing has changed. I left in 1978 and graduated from Henry count high school in 1975. All industry has left. There used to be Holley Carburetor, Plumley Rubber Co, Mitchum Cosmetics, and other corporations…all long gone. Jack Jones Florist a land mark. The actress Cherry Jones was in my high school class and was born and raised here. Paris was a great place to grow up in.

Very nice tour of some quiet TN towns. I enjoy that you show us the old theaters. Also like that some places were done up for Christmas. I've watched a lot of your videos at this point and it strikes me that when you read the low numbers for median incomes, $650 or $675 per week per household, that these numbers are gross income. So what they actually have to work with is even less than that! I do understand that housing costs are significantly less than the national average usually, but a lot of other prices are similar across the country (Walmart, Amazon, drug store chains, etc). I assume, particularly in towns with one or two universities, there are other amenities that you don't show like Walmart, fast food places, strip malls, etc to accommodate the thousands of students?

That last town I see a lot of art deco in that courthouse.

Downtown is where the polic station is and you were right by the station. Its not a horrible town in union city. Please come back and visit again and i would love to show you around and give you a glimpse of the local life honestly.

There is a Paris, PA. That’s close to me as decades ago I biked through it. Used Wiki for Paris, TN and they only have 3 months of cooler weather. It’s 57 for the high here today. I’m not complaining. Funny how you never visited a Bucees on videotape.

I know at least 3 people who have moved to Tennessee in just the last 5 years, and they love it.

If you do visit every Paris, you will be in my neck of the woods when you visit Paris, Idaho. I live in Pocatello. I would like to see you make another visit since your last visit, you spent way too much time in the clean museum. We have a nice, historic downtown, with a nice, restored railroad depot, an old Greyhound bus station, and many historic buildings. ☺

Would love a tour of a couple of those big old houses.
