Welcome to the fifth episode of my Resident Evil Lore Exploration Series where we take a deep dive into understanding some of the lesser known villains or mysteriously motivated characters of the franchise! In this episode, we discuss Sergei Vladimir, an Umbrella Corporation executive responsible for the formation of the Monitors and the head of the Russian branch of the Umbrella Corporation. Feel free to suggest characters/organizations for future episodes and I'll give you a shoutout if I make a video based on your suggestion!
I would like to acknowledge Project-Umbrella.Net for their tremendous work on translating the original versions of in game files, including the ones referenced in this video.

I'm fairly sure the guy in the helicopter with Sergei was Spencer. Both Spencer and the figure are elderly and on life support - considering there are only a handful of executives in any major company, I'd say the chances there being two individuals with such a health condition at around the same age (most people would have long since retired at that age - the fact that this guy is still working for Umbrella tells me he is much more invested in it than your normal executive would be, which this makes sense if it is Spencer since he was the de facto owner of Umbrella) working for the same company is just too high - it has to be Spencer. Also, the figure's only line said to Sergei is fairly insulting, telling the colonel he is "unstable". I don't think anyone other than Spencer could get away with talking to Sergei like that. And yes, there is a document in another game that says Spencer was not in Raccoon City right before it was destroyed. Spencer, however, was a master at both manipulation and disinformation so that file about him not being in Raccoon City means nothing. Most likely that file and its claim he was nowhere near Raccoon City was something created by him, his legal team, and/or someone like Sergei (not saying this was Sergei, but possibly some as loyal to Spencer as Sergei was) to minimize his role in Raccoon City's fate during the court case against Umbrella. I would actually prefer it though if Capcom never revisits the executive in the helicopter with Sergei bit. Spencer is a fascinating character because he is so mysterious and only really appears in files - he comes across very much as some phantom-like manipulator in the shadows, with even his only confirmed appearance being that of a flashback scene. That RE:VIII explores his past a bit more with just one file shows what an intriguing character he still is, even though he has been killed off since 2009's RE5. Awesome video btw!

Wow, this is such an interesting theory and you raise some excellent points! Intriguingly, I've been listening to a podcast that mostly discusses Resident Evil and one of the hosts did mention that he believed Spencer was the passenger in the helicopter as well. I agree that Spencer is such an intriguing character and the fact that many aspects remain shrouded in mystery adds to this intrigue. Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words 🙂

The only thing that was ever made up about the guy in the helicopter was that he was an Umbrella Executive. In the original script of the game he had more of a role conversing with Sergei while Sergei was trying to kill Leon during the Raccoon City Incident. The model used for The Umbrella Executive is James Marcus's model.

Aside from this elabroate well put theory regardin spencer bein on the chopper with sergi, theres one key aspect most ppl overlook,a distinguishable trait spencer had before he got rlyyy old tht pretty much confirms the theory In george trevor notes (supplementary material not ingame files),george whn describing lord spencer,he described him as havin "bleach hair" and in all of RE,only 3 ppl fit the description : albert and alex wesker, and spencer, the weskers werent even born or were too damn young by the time trevor wrote tht in his notes whn makin the mansion, ergo my point, plus the guys face is hidden from every cam angle, the only character who had this much mystery surrounding him was spencer

I once promised myself I'd one day write a whole fan universe (and then a whole universe of my own). I couldn't decide if I would start with either Marvel or DC. I've chosen neither (not yet at least). I'm gonna start with remaking the whole "Resident Evil" universe. Then, I'm gonna create a whole Marvel universe. And then, a DC.

@@Peckedtodeath84 then let me give you the first update. The first books of the "RE" universe aren't going to see a big number of major changes (they are going to be there, just not as numerous yet) from the source material. But as the saga progresses, that number shall grow as well. Could that be a problem ?
