I really hated that plot line prob bc Amy didn’t write it. Like him not telling Lorelei about her when we know Lorelei would have reacted just fine. Or him not letting Lorelei ever talk to April. Like I get that at first but come on that’s just like a fake thing the new writers put in to manufacture drama. Half of the April drama was just Luke being dumber than usual for bad reasons. We know he could have just talked this out with Lorelei and then the drama could have come from April’s mom, but nope whoever ran the show at that point thought nah let’s make luke and Lorelei break up again for the 3rd time. That’s not overdone or anything.

@@Meanie74 That story line, arc was in season 6, when Amy and Dan were still very much a part of the series. And, Amy also wrote the moment that made me want to throw out my TV---When Lorelai went to Chris, after giving Luke an ultimatum. We just don't know how she, Amy, would have done next?

@@heavenlygal101 hmm makes sense. I always thought April as a character was def written in part by Dan or Amy but I know I felt like the ball was severely dropped in season 7.

I don't care what anyone says, April is a Gilmore Girl, in spirit if not in blood. The way she was able to keep up with Rory, form such a bond with her,proves it.

That’s what happens when they set her up in a relationship season one so later her relationships become who she is, really disappointing. I wish we had a teen Rory who decided not to date Dean or anyone just for character development. Rory and Paris had enough chemistry in early seasons that more scenes within her high school can be shown.

Yeah but having nearly blown it with lorelai the first time April came into his life, don't you think he would make sure he wouldn't behave the same way. Lorelai is more or less April's stepmother here. Her solution to April's dilemma was quite sensible. But luke was pretty dismissive of it.

It's the wealthy part. Luke has always had a lot of savings, and the dinner does well, but he is by no means Gilmore and Hayden rich. Paying for college and overseas travel is a big deal. And Rory did have some part-time jobs but did very much take advantage of her rich family and rich boyfriend, which was Emily's plan; Lorelai gave her laundry money and got her a job.

She did work for the DAR.

Also worked at the indepence inn for events while in hs. Worked at the bookstore over summer. Mulled over two different summer jobs before ending up going to Europe with Emily. Then the internship at the Stamford eagle gazette that turned into a job right before she went back to Yale. Rory doesn't really do idle. So yea, she worked sporadically throughout the entire series.

Isn't April about 21/22 yo at this point? Rory had some jobs at this age. The DAR, the bookstore summer job and by 22 she was seeking for a stable job.

Lorelai was in the same position, but things worked out

April wasn't even a bad character they just used her for to be a wedge in Lorelai and Luke's relationship which shouldn't of happened. She's personally one of my favorite characters i just think they wrote the situations around her wrong

Whoa whoa whoa. Michelle is amazing as Dawn. People hate on Dawn because they find her an annoying 14-year old girl. You know who is annoying? Actual 14-year old girls. And this is coming from a 14-year old girl. Dawn gets a lot of flack thrown at her (some deserved), but overall the character was a good move for the show to make and Michelle did a phenomenal job with the character.

April is a great foil character, they have Paris, Jess, Rory, and April, all intelligent young people with different and realistic personalities and a varied array of social skills, the show failed her because it used her subplot to try to draw out the "Will they, won't they" BS that the writers falsely believed was essential to drive the story along when the real energy the show fed off of was the interactions between the characters.

I don't think she was being snobby about it. She's mentioning it because between that, and the Germany trip, Luke is paying a bunch of money and she wanted to let him know she wants and can help out. Which, considering April isn't her kid, I found sweet. She doesn't have any type of responsability towards April, but she still cares and offers her help.

I don't think she's being snobby about it, I think she's just pointing out the facts. MIT probably costs a fortune and when you don't have wealthy grandparents to pay for it, the money has to come from somewhere. Rory also wasn't given any scholarship because of the money Richard gave her from the investment. Yale thought they had way more money than they did so they didn't qualify for anything.

yes, thought so too. even though april seemed to be more into science, while rory had always been a literature girl. also april is not as witty or up to date when it comes to pop culture. but also remember Jess' stepsister from California? She also was obsessed with reading. seemed like the producers really love nerdy daughters lol

That's true but sometimes the awkwardness just evolves into a new style haha April is a science major, probably spends a lot of time studying, isn't very sociable compared to the Gilmore girls, and probably is trying to "remake" herself (nose ring, clothes, pot, etc) when she just needs to be herself

@@rcd2000 yeah....also....there are socially awkward kids that become socially awkward adults that goes especially for many that are neurodivergent including many on the autistic spectrum I am a neurodivergent with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD

Sometimes people don't evolve out of their awkwardness though. I'm 25, work in customer service, and I still lack poise. Maybe April even has low functioning autism which would explain why she can be too blunt at times.

Only bright spot for me was the Rory /Jess scenes. He gave her ,yet again, some solid friendly advice. Opened her eyes to the very obvious situation she was confronting. She dropped out of Yale, and he got her questioning THAT decision among countless others. So, this time , he reminds her she is a writer. So write a book. Duh. But , agreed. This 4 part series just didn't have the same flavor of the original series. More questions than answers.

I want to watch the revival. Can you tell me which parts are bad. Because I watch the scene that lorelai tells a story about Richard and it was emotinial. İ guess it was the only goıd scene

Did you not see Emily’s scenes? Her DAR scene was impeccable

@@blinkylisa7200 Literally 90% of it is awful. I agree the Richard scene is beautiful. And Jess's scenes are all worth watching. Lots of people like Emily's stuff (especially the DAR scene as someone mentioned) though I disagree and then maybe some of Luke and Lorelai's last scenes. But really that's it. Overall the story is crap watching theses scenes in isolation is probably for the best.
