So Gelt basically has three campaigns now. One in Imperium, one with Cathay and one against Cathay. And on top he becomes one of the strongest Magical Factions in the Game. I love it.

I love the idea of sending Gelt off to Grand Cathay to help out Zhao Ming. Imo they're a natural pairing, and it helps give a little more fluff to the unique identity of the Western Provinces.

Sotek if you have access to talk to anyone at CA ask them to rename Simon warner (gelts starting hero) to Andrew Law for reasons...

The fact that Gelt goes to be buddies with Zhao Ming is pretty cool, since the Iron Dragon likes to interact with humans more than his siblings and they have similar interests in alchemy. It's probably the reason why he is my favorite of the Cathayan Dragons so far, though Li Dao seems just as promising in my eyes. Balthasar getting to deal with the House of Secrets would also be interesting.

I'm the type of guy that never really disliked the original empire rework, i found it awesome and the new threats for the empire just made it better. I was satisfied with it and missed just little thinfs like the colleges of magic. Now that this is here i can say for certain the empire may not be my favourite race (that being Cathay) but it will for sure be my favourite campaign

These legacy updates in this DLC give me hope that when CA do update the Lizardmen their mechanics will be far more interesting. Kroq Gar having his own mechanics like Gelt would be great though I have no idea what that would look like. Specific upgrades for Oldbloods? Pimp my Carnosaur for Grymloq? Either way I'm excited for the future of this game!

wish there is a way for Karl Franze to confederate all the empire legendary lord factions through his imperial perteige systems kinda like how he used to confederate Gelt, volkmar never want to confederates he either just die too early or controls a couple princes and never accept confederation, hopefully after the update confederating gelt and nuln wouldn't be a pain in the ass

I hope the lizards get their campaigned overhauled, everyone else is getting juicy stuff.

39:41 Gold wizard doesnt know how to ride a horse, he literally stands at this poor creature( maybe because of the teleporting). And BTW Empire can take captives after battles( in the current patch) when fighting against human races.

I wish that returning to the Empire had a follow-up dilemma where you get to choose where you spawn in the Empire. It would be nice to be able to spawn further East, to start off by reclaiming Imperial Territory from Vlad or something like that.

I'm very excited to see what they eventually come out with for the Lizardmen updates.

I love that this gives immortal empires a story campaign, even if it’s just for the starting reason. It’d be great if they kept doing that.

I feel like I would enjoy returning to the empire as Gelt greatly. It almost feels like the germanic tribes in Attila TW, where you just take all your stuff and set up shop somewhere else where you can find a place. It feels like a great emergent gameplay element too, since I can come and look at how well the empire has been doing in my absence and whatever invasion force I feel is most dangerous, I will help deal with and take its regions for myself.

Choices on the campaign map are interesting, it’s a nice addition to the game 👍

CA is really delivering with this DLC and update. Hopefully going forward this is the kind of content we can expect with the DLCs and legacy faction reworks.

Just want to say, Storm of Renewal is limited to grounded target on current patch as well, found this out when I got scammed out of my heal as Be'lakor'd Changeling.

The empire mechanics look a lot more solid. CA still seems to have no idea what to do with the detachment system from the tabletop, but the captain now serves a better support role. A pity that wizard lords, hurricanums etc did not come with the "Magic and gunpowder" and seem to have been too much trouble or saved for a fourth DLC.

The reworks look really good so far. Will probably do 3 empire campaigns to try it all out. Hoping for a Hat Trick with the Dwarfs so I can alternate them.

my plan is to use Battlesay's gimmick with Gelt's return to the empire buff to go straight to marienburg (id rather leave altdorf to franz) and take it and use the population surplus cheese to abandon and retake the minor areas to get Marienburg immediately to population 5 and enjoy a fun new campaign with the empire as marienburg's protector

I think this might be my favorite rework they have ever done for a character/faction.

All the other wizards get their cataclysm spells for 2 turns. Gelt just gets his cataclysm spell. Franz seems to be the only one who has access to the Runefangs (except probably Toddy's one since you can confed him). Would be nice if they equipped them on all the electors, so that should you confed them, you get their unique item too. This shouldn't take too much unique power away from Franz' faction, since he will still be the only one to get the faction buffs each electoral position provides. On the other hand, Franz is the only one who actually needs to confed (or conquer) them to get the State Troop units he buffs, while at the same time being focussed on diplomacy and supporting the counts in keeping the Empire intact. He should probably gain access to these units (and maybe the buffs) at high fealty or upon establishing an alliance? Wonder what changed in Volkmar and Wulfhart's tech trees and campaigns.

I approve this update, hope we get to see other Lords who moved from their main locations receiving better benefits, like my boy Alberic de bouderloux, has abilities that make him great in sea battles and trades...places him in lustria where cavalry is bad there xD

My boi finally getting the respect the Supreme Patriarch deserves. Gelt's been one of my favorites in Warhammer for a long time, so it's awesome playing through his new campaign and enjoying his new faction mechanic, which I'm not gonna lie is pretty busted... and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's a ton of fun, especially running an army full of wizards with a line of handgunners and artillery and just blasting everything until nothing but a glassed crater remains. Long live the Supreme Patriarch!

Great video Loremaster, thank you. If you have any contact with devs, I noticed in this video that Gelt and the Gold Wizard had Mastery of the Elemental Winds before you got the unique landmark building for it. Seems an issue.

Saving the Empire is always the correct choice. But giving up Mastery of the Elemental Winds on every wizard is a steep price to pay... Also, seeing the captains and wizards updated makes me wonder if the other heroes and lords got updated too?

WIth Gelt starting there i wonder if they'll be opening up Ind and Khuresh as starts for the Monkey King and Li Dao.

The return home option says that you transfer all CATHAY territories to Zhao ming. So what if you, early in the campaign, go a little east a capture a settlement in mountains of mourn or near Ghrost? would that enable you to keep a foothold near catha (and potentially trade settlements to get that landmark back)?

Similar to how they gave Archaon a refresh with the WoC rework? I thought Gelt was pretty deserving of one in particular and this felt like a great opportunity for one.

The colleges of magic kind of blew away my expectations. I was thinking something like a reskinned Kislev ice court recruiting, but this is way more interesting.

Really hope they lean into giving more cataclysm spells in immortal empires and unique magic buffs. Especially for zteentch as kairos feels like a great but not top tier magician. Maybe they could change the useless cult destruction option to change all your armies to having maxed out winds of magic and access to the cataclysm spells for a few turns?

I’ve always thought that it’s really the free content that sells the paid content for tww. It’s using development time to not only add new content but also improve older content which keeps it selling and competitive as the games develop. All the new units are great but it’s the constant improvements to older content that really keeps the game great and makes the content worth buying

Going home sounds good in theory due to money etc but if the empires doing well you’ll have nowhere to set up base and will spend a bit running around trying to find somewhere Or the empire could be doing trash and your have plenty of options Personally I think staying and allying with the big boi in Cathy is cool

They said the updates were substantial, and they delivered, this looks potentially like the best Patch/DLC of TW3, maybe even TW2. The hype is real!

My question is : what does his long campaigns looks like ? Because one way or another it will be a pain the ass except if they change it based on the final choice which would be cool but i don't have any hope about that.
