I think Isuzu Ren is one of the few extremely powerful magical girls on par with Mami/Yachiyo/Oriko/Suzune/Magius Three/Ui... The points of hinting Ren as a S tier magical girl includes her ability to fly. Adept in both melee (magical scythe) and ranged (soul attack). Unique/rare passive ability. Someone should discuss how karmic burden and tragic backstories are directly related to magical potential. It seems the more tragic your fate is, the more powerful you are. On a second thought I should do a power tier list referring to lore.

a little addendum: the question came up why Ren is not Light elemental, since she is so "holy" and "pure". The reason is simply that that's not her magic. Ren's Magic is about communing with/controling souls of the dead and drawing her power from them. Such a power is certainly of Dark element.

I loved Ren’s pure design and also her relationship with Rika.

Magical girls can study magic,because homura (glasses) says she is studying magic in one of her home screen lines...what if Ren studied her magic and learned how to talk to dead magical girls,or even better madokami (is madokami even dead tho?)

Coming from your Shizuku video, it seems like Ren is as much Madoka as Shizuku is Homura. Interesting how they both have opposite elements from the original character they resemble most.
