What brings me here is an obituary of Loretta Lynn in the New York Times written by a poet and music critic Hanif Abdurraqib. I never took to Loretta Lynn. She was a voice in the 1960s in long forgotten afternoon talk shows. Long ago. But Abdurraqib expressed his view of living, dying, loneliness, hard work and what it's like to do his job through his views of Loretta Lynn' and her music. We all take to different songs for different reasons. Abdurraqib mentioned this song in particular, so I came to listen.
