My mom passed in 1997 and one of my earliest memories is her singing this under her breath cleaning the house. She was born in the hollers and had a hard life.

Our hometown holler queen!! RIP, Ms Loretty. You were such a huge part of our area. I live just a few miles from where Coal Miner's Daughter was filmed. I have close friends that played extras in the movie and EVERYONE remembers the filming.... We certainly will miss your pretty face :(

Her rendition of “In the Pines” (Also known as “Black Girl) was good, even-though the words were drastically changed. Loved her voice! Also, this is one of my favorite Lead Belly songs.

Yes. Listen to Lead Belly’s version, or to Kurt Cobain singing this song live with Nirvana. Those will both send chills down your spine. Another dark one is the duet by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant.

Dogs are so instinctive in detecting emotions in spoken words...I had a dog that would howl and growled to the song Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin . Love this version of In the Pines. Loretta Lynn is an amazing and truly an American treasure. God bless LL🌹💘🙏
