★ 4K 🇨🇭 Palézieux - Vevey - Brig cab ride, Switzerland [11.2021] Führerstandsmitfahrt

We start at dawn in this video in the village of Palézieux, on the line connecting Bern and Lausanne. Usually, all passenger trains coming from the direction of Bern as we are, continue on the main line to Lausanne. We, however, will be taking a very special connection line from Puidoux down to Vevey, with a 3.8% decent.
The line was nicknamed "the vineyard railway", as we pass directly through a unesco heritage listed region of Vineyards overlooking lake Geneva (lac Léman), notably the largest lake in Switzerland. Hopefully we'll be able to show you the line at a later date in full daylight.
We then continue along the Simplon line to Brig,

Oh nice!! I just did this the other way around during construction works between Vevey and Lausanne last weekend. Going through the vineyards in an IC being push-pulled by 2 Re460s was quite something :D

Auf diese Fahrt hab ich schon lange gewartet. Ja da werd ich jetzt gleich hier in den Zug einsteigen. Fensterplatz hab ich auch schon. Dann kanns los geh'n. Abfahrt 1:17 Während der Zug in -Lausanne- nein, ich korrigiere, *Vevey,* (18:22) hält, gebe ich einen Daumen rauf und die Fahrt kommt zu meinen Favoriten.

Wonderful. Just a little remark about a comment at 9:20. The word “arrêt” is masculine so the adjective should be “ancien” even if it sounds like “ancienne” when we speak and link the two words together.

Thanks for this beautiful run! Makes sense that Palézieux would be the ideal place to store units overnight, glad you found a way to share some of that behind-the-scenes activity. This special time in the morning is a great way to introduce us to the Ligne des Vignes, look forward to future runs there. Just wondering if the proposed doubling and completion of the Lötschberg Base Tunnel will include the originally intended branch towards Sion at the Southern end. Anyway thanks again - good to see you active on here once more \m/

Laut opemrailway maps ist die komplette Strecke mit ETCS ausgestattet

Open railway ist nicht ganz Vollständig, auch was Geschwindigkeiten angeht. ETCS Level 2 gibt es nur wo man es hier sieht. Sonst überall in der Schweiz kann man mit Baseline 3 Fahrzeuge (Flirt 3, Giruno, Traverso, einige Vectrons) mit Level 1 Ls fahren, was dem ZUB ähnlich ist.

Bin sehr erstaunt, dass der einspurige Rebberg-Abschnitt mit Typ N Signalen ausgestattet ist. Und einige Teil der Strecke Vevey Brig noch mit L Signalen auskommt.

Es werden auch heute noch Strecken mit L Signalen neusignalisiert (zZ zB Basel SBB - Aesch). Ein Wechsel zu N Signalen bedingt im Normalfall auch einen grösseren Umbau der Stellwerke. Ich kenne die Einzelheiten nicht, aber ich gehe davon aus, dass die Stellwerke, welche für ETCS L2 umgebaut wurden mit N Signalen ausgetattet sind und deshalb auch die an die L2-Abschnitte angrenzenden Stücke N Signale aufweisen. Die Stellwerke dazwischen sind noch "alte" Technik und werden kaum noch den Zwischenschritt auf N Signale machen, da über kurz oder lang alles auf ETCS L2 umgestellt wird.
