I literally stumbled upon you last night and I watched most of your altered book videos! You are... AMAZING...I'm making one right now! I love making altered books and I've been using a lot of fabric in mine, but you have opened up a new world! And, yes, I remember the polio sugar cubes! I hadn't remembered that for... over 60 years! Thank you for sharing your genius with us! I wish I didn't live 12 hours away!

Hi LorriMarie, Just found you, and loving each and every episode I've seen (I'm sure I'll love them all). You have captured all the things I like to do in an organized and compelling way: visual arts, books, paper, found things, make do with what you have. Your episodes are well done, interesting little stories about you and very helpful. I think I can achieve an interesting finished book from your explanations, wonderful for me as I live in Idaho, a bit to far to come for a class. Collecting supplies, old books, Mod Podge, etc. in one place to begin soon. Thank You, Judy

I so want to do an altered book, but am having trouble finding a cheap sewn signature one, so as I have a ton of cardboard I’m going to adapt and use what I have. Going to try all your styles and see where it takes me. I’ve cut my pages wide enough to use disc binding for now and will probably use Coptic stitch to bind my finished pages. Have joined the village people so will share my progress. Woop woop, see you on the table

I love love love your videos LorriMarie - I've found them so inspiring - every time I watch a new technique loads of ideas come to me and so far I'm working on my first book and have 'plans' for another two so far with different themes. I made the secret compartment at the back and was surprised at how good it turned out. Will you be showing more of working on that page ie the hidden object and the collage?

Love this!! When you first showed the book, I thought it must be very small, but it has over twenty double pages!! And every page is a universe. I'm wondering if you could talk a bit about the history/aesthetic of this type of art . . . It seems related to Punk Art, but is not that exactly, although it is related. I'm trying to get a grip on it. Thanks! Dolores

How wonderful...this must be an altered book before you decided to leave them open-fanned out. I actually like them both. I find the fanned open books are not as fascinating to my grands(children). Perhaps it is the allure of the tied ribbon?. Thanks for the video. I look forward to seeing your techniques in following videos. PS, where do you get those delightful see thru screens? Every thing screenish I can find is usually too dark and not see through enough...

i guess the nylon screens can be found at auto supply places...weird, right? they are used for repairing cars...i guess maybe for patching??? dunno....see you at the auto supply store baby!!!

You are so inspiring and amazing. I enjoy your videos! I have so many collected images and have tried organize them many different ways and can’t figure out what works the best. What do you do with yours?

that is a tricky part ltkoc! i do not collect many images...i use them as i go...i find if it store them...they lose their energy and charm...lol...so i maybe have 25 images in a plastic storage box...not much help otkoc...sorry.....see you on the table!

your pages never seem to stick together. . . mine do and sometimes even lift off items from one page to the other and mess everything up! Do you put some kind of finish on your pages? I make sure to let the pages dry completely before I close them.

it does take a bit of time for the modpodge to 'cure'...place some waxed paper between the pages until they have cured....depending on your climate...it might take a while...like days...make sure to use the matte modpodge....the glossy seems to stay sticky longer....you can also put furniture wax, rub a candle, or spray some clear acrylic paint on the pages....as you can see...i do not have that problem....but i do understand...blah! i am in australia now...see you on the table mid november when i return to being a mixed media artist in vallejo, california sonja! go create, go play, go have fun...

finding the images is by far, the most challenging part of collage 'play'! i look through magazines and books...try hi-fructose, haute dolls, and juxtapoz for some 'interesting' images....thanks for the comment and question! see you on the table!

what tool do u use to make the grommet whole in the front and rear cover?

i use the crop-a-dile II for most my holes and grommets....i love the tool!!!! i can send you a link for amazon if you need it...but it is best if you can find a coupon for a craft store...i hope that helps...see you on the table joanne....
