In this video, I photograph the Disney Concert Hall and other buildings in downtown Los Angeles with my Nikon D850 and show you how I process one of the images in Photoshop

I used to live down in Long Beach, and I used to spend hours at that spot in L.A. with my camera. I NEVER ran out of things/ideas for photos. !!!! I miss it....

Jay, Enjoyed your on location video. You provided some good information on your process. Frank Gehry buildings are amazing, I did the one in Vegas recently. I have leaned a lot about masking and an architectual photography from Joel Tjintjelaar videos and using his Quick Mask Pro Panel.

Excellent video as usual. Your architecture videos are my favorite. I was planning on editing a architecture shot today, so the timing of this is perfect. Thanks for the inspiration!! Lol

Some really great shots in this one Jay! Some really cool buildings. You are definitely braver than I am being in downtown L.A. in the dark. I lived in Hollywood for a couple of years while going to music school and I definitely avoided the downtown area when the sun went down (not that Hollywood was any better). Century City always seemed s bit safer and some pretty cool buildings there as you pointed out. Really enjoyed the video and the images!

Thanks buddy! I’m sure Los Angeles is better than it used to be but I just happen to be in an area that was a little sketchy. Love shooting that Architecture though!

Good to see you're back doing what you do so well. Just wondered if you'd thought to straighten the verticals on the sign and the entrance (?), front left of frame?

Hello JC I always enjoy your videos, but I have a little problem with photoshop. Why can't I select the sky when loading selection, as you can always see in the videos? Greetings, what am I doing wrong?
@JCImagesBehindtheShot
@JCImagesBehindtheShot 7 ай бұрын
Hi there! It really depends on the image. When the sky is clearly defined against a subject, the sky selection tool works well. When the contrast between the sky and whatever is in the foreground is not that significant, the tool is less effective. There are times when I use the polygonal lasso tool to make a selection. It can be slow and tedious, especially when there are curved lines. I usually get a cup of coffee and put some music on and just get lost in the task. I should probably do a video on this. Thanks for watching.

Love your videos Jay. This may seem like a stupid question but how do you get the final image saved after all the layers? Thanks
@JCImagesBehindtheShot
@JCImagesBehindtheShot 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. After I was satisfied, I simply saved it back to Lightroom. Sometimes I will flatten it first as these files can be quite large.
