We’re in Los Angeles for 1 day only! We had a hit list of iconic LA spots that we wanted to eat at that spanned the city from Koreatown to Downtown, a diner, a food truck and more. Every spot was an absolute hit!
This 4 part USA series focuses on great food in LA and San Diego. We hope these videos help with your own eating itineraries when you visit these cities.
What we ate and where we ate it:
6 x donuts at Donut King, 3611 W 6th St, Los Angeles, CA 90020, United States. Open 7 days 6am to 9pm. Total cost $13USD
Patty melt, vegetable scramble, chilaquiles, corn beef hash, pop tart and 4 coffees at Nickel Diner, 524 S Main St, Los Angeles, CA 90013, United States. Open Thursday to Sunday 8:30am to 2pm. Total cost including 20% tip $112.44USD
4 x short rib tacos at Kogi Truck (check their website for truck locations and times). Total cost $17.09USD including 20% tip.
2 x French Dip sandwiches, a pickle, a lemonade at Phillipe The Original, 1001 N Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90012, United States. Open 7 days 6am to 10pm. Total cost $31.49USD including 20% tip.

We’re Thomas and Sheena, food and travel fiends. We travel full time, hunting for the BEST local food in the world to showcase via our KZfaq videos. Food is a window into a country's culture and one of the most exciting ways to get to know a place.
We're all about eating what and where the locals eat. You won't find food that's been created merely to be social media worthy on here- no rainbow bagels, gold leaf soft serves- just honest food that tastes incredible.
From street food to mom and pop restaurants, we want to show you the best food we find on our travels.

My favourites had to be the short rib tacos and Thomas' triple dip sandwich. All so reasonably priced, apart from the Nickel Diner, despite the size of the meal was expensive for fast food at nearly $30 a head. Am I thinking correctly that street food in Japan would have been at least half the price? I understand that none of this could be everyday food. Nice close up shots of the tacos Thomas.
@ChasingaPlate
@ChasingaPlate Жыл бұрын
Yep, I reckon Japan gets a bad rap for being expensive. You can obviously spend a lot of money on food but there are so many cheap options (which are of a very high quality)! Woohoo! I'm glad you made it to the States! That apple fritter really was as big as your face. That would have been my pick, too. It's been 30+ years since I was last in L.A., and there were no Korean fusion tacos back then. But Mexican and Korean foods do cross over quite a bit, so brilliant that they did that. My favorite thing on the tour was the French dip. That's my favorite sandwich, and getting it from the place that invented it was stellar! I spent 17 years in Sandy Ego, so I can't wait to see what you get up to there. One of my favorite diners was in a neighborhood called Normal Heights.

@@ChasingaPlate I always forget that people outside of California generally don’t know what the inland empire is. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I should have been more specific, my apologies. @@Alevermor all good! I was very intrigued 😄 it sounds beautiful and so neat on the food front! What kind of cuisines are on offer?
@Alevermor
@Alevermor Жыл бұрын
@@ChasingaPlate Almost anything you can think of, honestly. Temecula has it's own little wine country that you can go on tasting tours. Within a 15 mile radius of my house (which is in Riverside) I know of a few Thai places, Mediterranean, Pakistani, Vietnamese, Indian, Japanese, Mongolian, and Indonesian. Countless Mexican restaurants. We also have our local diner and pizza place that we discovered not long after we moved here. I've also heard of a great Hawaiian place in Corona which is not far from here, I haven't had the chance to try it though. I feel like I've only touched the tip of the iceberg as far as types of food. I'm still discovering so many.
