Dave Bullard: I saw these guys for the third time in Clearwater, FL on 2-13-20 and they are still a fabulous live band. (My favorite.) I hope they never stop putting out records.

great to hear this band, who generally let their music speak for them, reflect on their music...

These guys are the epitome of integrity and dedication to their musical and artistic ideals. The deepest roots, the highest levels of creative innovation, the sharpest of musical chops, one fantastic record after another. They are absolutely one of the finest bands America has ever had. Also I don't understand why a lot of people seem to think that being interviewed, particularly in front of a live audience, is something that most people would find natural and be comfortable with. Plus, I'm sure over the course of 42 years, they've already answered most of these questions over and over, and whatever excitement a young band might feel about people wanting to hear what they have to say has long since worn off. So yeah, they're not super into it, but are gracious enough to do it, probably mostly just to satisfy their label's desire for promotion that in fact they probably don't really need and from which they won't particularly benefit.

What i get from this...they really does not like to do intterviews, not just this one but others as well.I got the feeling that they were a bit uncomfortable doing this...still a humble group of friends.I have always thought of them as the american equivalent like The Beatles.Every album was different from the last.Great to see them live never a disappointment !!! Kiko was a game changer for them, great album.

One of my top 5 favorite bands of all time. Discovered them in the mid-80's while a DJ for my college radio station, West Georgia College. They've been heroes of mine ever since. As a musician, they cover so many of my bullet points of greatness. Interesting political take, too. In response to their opinion of the wall, Mexicans would build a door. Excellent answer! That would be great! A door through which people can enter and leave Mexico and the US each providing the required paperwork, the way it has been for decades until Mexico became so corrupt and at least partially run by cartels. I hate Mexico has become that way, as it is such a beautiful place with so much to offer and hard working brilliant people and culture. So awesome these guys are kind of a liaison of the two nations and cultures. They are more heroes to me, now, after this interview 35 years after my discovery. I hope to see them one day before we all start falling apart, physically... haha!

Were they sad here? Or they just don't like to be interviewed? Or tired? I love 'em. I hate to think of them as being downcast -- sad..... They've done so much for all of us. Sacrificed so much family/home time to be with us -- to share their gifts with us.

So cool to watch this interview. It is an honest account of their roots. I was fortunate enough to meet them at Garfield high school. Frank Gonzalez ( the original bass player) David Hidalgo, and Louie Perez were cool to hang with during "nutrition", on the steps of the cafeteria . At the time their band was called "BOOJUM SNARK", Featuing Dave, Louie and Frank. Ceaser and Conrad had graduated the previous year . Frank lived just off olympic blvd. Ceaser lived one house away and rehearsals were held at Dave's house just down the street. Ceaser was leading a soul band called "Firesign" . Conrad was in the power trio " Euphoria" and Also the "Allen Webster's chocolate banana mystery band". Each of them multi-talented, and hard working .Grateful for everything, they never let fame go to thier heads. They remain friendly and humble and still the best live show in circulation. The Pride of East L.A. and my friends, LOS LOBOS.

Sadly, Frank just passed away from Cancer last week. The Los Angeles Times ran a very nice tribute and obituary written by Gustavo Arellano.

I was able to find Frank in Kansas and had a great phone call with him on Dec. 23, 2021 with another Pomona College classmate, Brad Berge. We are devastated to have found him after 50 years only to lose him 3 months later. He was one of a kind. Keep on rockin', dear friend.

I've noticed that too over the years...it seems Dave n Louie talk better when the 5 of them aren't together...Cesar is very informative when interviewed alone...Steve and Conrad are hysterical as a duo...Dave is extremely humble and gets quieter when Cesar talks...

Jim DeRogatis makes a lame attempt to get the band to get political ... they did not . Open Borders Liberal DeRogatis in doing so only embarrassed himself.
