The Losi Super Baja Rey 2.0 is a massive adrenaline rush packed into a huge 1/6 scale 8s RC Desert Truck with absolutely incredible scale suspension. This is the ultimate scale RC car for bashing. This Super Baja Rey (SBR) features Brenthel licensing and has an amazing scale body built to look nearly identical to its 1:1 counterpart.
The real star of the show here is Losi's impressive suspension. It is simply phenomenal. The SBR 2.0 features a solid rear axle with massive suspension travel that puts in serious work when driving over rough terrain. Pay close attention to the slow motion shots in the video. If you observe the rear suspension, you'll see that it drops to full extension while airborne so it can absorb hard impacts for a nice soft landing, and when flying over uneven terrain at intense speeds the suspension soaks up all of the bumps and makes for an extremely realistic looking RC Desert Truck that seemingly glides over obstacles that most other RC cars would be bouncing all over. It's honestly so unreal to watch and experience in person. There's also some really awesome body roll on display here. It can be challenging to not roll the truck over at high speeds, but when done right, it just looks so darn cool and realistic.
Bringing these large scale RCs out to the sand pits and putting them on camera has a very interesting effect - while people usually say the camera "adds ten pounds" to people, big RCs in the sand pits seem to have the complete opposite effect - they look way smaller than they actually are. I do a size comparison with an Arrma Kraton towards the end of the video, but for context, this 1/6 scale Losi SBR RC Desert Truck weighs about 23 pounds with two Spektrum 4S batteries installed, and is 35" long, 15.6" wide and 12" high, with a 20.2" wheelbase. That's right - just the wheelbase on this truck alone is the size of a 1/8 scale Arrma Typhon or 1/10 scale Arrma Big Rock. Needless to say - this Super Baja Rey from Losi is simply a beast.
There's not a lot of competition in large scale basher desert trucks with highly scale features. The only other real contender out there is the Traxxas UDR - which is another great option. In my opinion, the Losi Super Baja Rey 2.0 is the ultimate scale basher in any size because it's huge, fast, and super durable with mind blowing suspension. Driving this RC really is a pure adrenaline rush and I love every second of it. If you don't need the scale features and just want a large scale short-course style truck with insane durability, then the Arrma Mojave might be worth considering. I'll have a video up on that one soon as well.
If you have the space to drive such a large rig, I would highly recommend the Super Baja Rey 2.0, while keeping in mind some of the caveats and disadvantages discussed in the video.
I have a TON of videos coming soon - over 25 more videos that have already been filmed (they just need to be edited) - plus more that I'm actively filming now that Spring is here. So if you enjoy content like this, make sure to like, comment and subscribe so you don't miss any of my upcoming videos.
Stay safe and have fun - thanks for watching!
